So just wanted to share my experience and get some Input from others on the board. Have been using Reta for a while now never higher than 1.5 mg a week. I’ve read that there have been studies about rewiring the brain etc. now with that being said I used to be an extremely heavy drinker. I quit alcohol about 2 years ago and haven’t looked back, I might occasionally have a shot for a celebration etc but reflecting on it I literally have no desire to drink and honestly even the thought of it makes me blah haha. Just curious if anyone has had any similar experiences

Absolutely! I have been using Reta for a while now. I was surprised how many different things I’m no longer interested in. Alcohol being at the top of the list. I used to enjoy having an old fashioned going out to dinner with my wife. Zero interest. Any kind of sweets. Zero interest. I actually dread when she wants to go out as anything greasy turns my stomach. I’d rather stay home with my chicken and rice lol

I was a massive alcoholic, at my worst I was going through a half gallon a day. I started with tirzepatide and that definitely helped curve my alcohol craving a little… but since I’ve switched to Reta I don’t drink anymore at all outside of special occasions.

don’t get me wrong, I still think about alcohol especially on the weekends when I’m not working but the Reta and my passion for training has made me abstain. It’s like when I even try to drink my body just doesn’t want it, I don’t get that reward signaling in my brain anymore telling me to keep drinking.

Never been a drinker, so cant speak on that, but always loved fried foods and now if I eat something fried I get a sick feeling for several hours. Even the smell of fryer oil on a restaurant or something gives me a nausea feeling.

The scary thing I have noticed with some people along with the benefits of reducing addiction/cravings with negative things, is blunting of positive things . What I mean is losing passion for things they enjoy including hobbies, work, projects and most importantly relationships. I'm seeing it more and more. I wonder if long term this blunting of emotions will be an issue that we weren't expecting.

I'm all about done with the current GLP's unless obesity is involved.

although these are the latest findings also that glp1s can do

and honestly, i have noticed in some of the glp1 cirlcles lots and lots of people breaking up that start glp1s together.
so much so i had kinda noticed it, but didnt think much of it.

The scary thing I have noticed with some people along with the benefits of reducing addiction/cravings doesn't always occur with negative things, but with thigs that were positive. What I mean is losing passion for things they enjoy including hobbies, work, projects and most importantly relationships. I'm seeing it more and more. yes! this is very real!

I’ve read that it affects dopamine as well I haven’t experienced anything that before but I’m also on a very low dose
yea im lucky in that it had no effects on me like that, besides helping me realize i can control what i eat, and make me never want to drink again.
all positives for me!
im comfortable using them and hopping on off them now.

but if i can avoid it i will.

Yeah, this is true. I have noticed that over the past few months that I've kinda lost interest in certain things. I don't know how to explain it really, but not like in a lazy way, but more like I just could care less if I did anything. Haven't really associated it with the Reta, until now.

Agreed. It definitely blunts dopamine I believe. The only thing that excites me anymore is hitting the weights. But, at 54 not much excites me anyway.

I have definitely lost all interest in most of my previous hobbies. I hate to admit it but it has definitely blunted my emotions and the pleasure I get out of most things everyday. Didn’t really catch on to it until this past month or two but I would say it definitely has changed me.

I can’t say I’ve noticed anything other than its effect on my hunger,I was already not using alcohol much anyhow, but ! I was having a couple of drinks every two weeks or so and now I just don’t care for it at all. What you brought up is scary and if it’s true, then everyone needs to rethink how they use GLP 1’s. Myself, I don’t go more than 8 weeks, then break it off for at least the same amount of time, usually much longer. Some people on here seem to be staying on it permanently and that might have been looked at.

One of the things i have noticed is that with less hunger my desire to plan amd cook healthy meals in advance is down. So putting together last minute healthy meals is more of a challenge. But from most of my reading once people come off things like reta they mostly go back to the way they were and gain most of the weight back in a year.

Something to add, I started using a Cargi/Sema blend almost two months ago,I’ve found it to be very effective for when I hit 1mg. pre week. I did move up to 1.7 mg. and it’s put a pretty good dent in my appetite, to much . Since I’ve only got one week left I’ll stay with it ,but only go to 1 mg in the future. I bring this up because maybe Cargrilintide’s focus is on amylin it could wind up being a better alternative. I’m not suggesting anyone should use this ,but wait and see how the studies go.
