Damn, thats a goal.
Anavar worked GREAT during my cut and YES my strength remained.I recently asked about running a low dose of Anavar for 4–6 weeks while I’m cutting, and I got lit up on Reddit for it. They basically told me Anavar would do absolutely nothing for me during a cut and that I should just keep dropping weight and wait for a bulk.
For context, I’m 5'11", around 173 lbs, roughly 16% body fat. I’m down about 30 lbs so far with the help of a GLP (Retatrutide), and I’m on TRT at 200 mg a week. My plan has always been to cut to around 15% before adding anything else, and that plan still stands.
What threw me off is I always understood Anavar to be something people use during a cut specifically to help hold onto strength and lean tissue — not for fat loss itself. I’m not expecting it to magically burn fat; I was looking at it strictly for performance support while calories are lower.
So my question is — am I totally off base here? Is Anavar actually pointless at this stage unless you’re already shredded? Or did Reddit just dismiss the idea without understanding the goal?
I’m open to being wrong. I just want a real answer from people who’ve actually used it, not internet one-liners.

My goal has always been the "feel" so to speak. Just to add some strength.there seems to be competing points of view in this thread so far, those being a "how will it make you LOOK" (cosmetics) and a "how will it make you FEEL" (strength/pump/endurance) viewpoint. Obviously, the cosmetic side of it will be negligible because of the layer of body fat that still exists. But the other point of view? I dunno![]()
That's my whole goal going to the gym, to be strong and look good. Why does being stronger matter to you?
Two entirely different things, although they can co-exist. No one can see your strength outside the gym. Everyone can view your appearance. That's my whole goal going to the gym, to be strong and look good.
Right, they can co-exist. That's the goal. I know I won't always be strong at times or not look fluffy at times. Two entirely different things, although they can co-exist. No one can see your strength outside the gym. Everyone can view your appearance.

The anavar was just a question about adding something that can give me an edge while not being "strong".
You, like most people today, have been led to believe that steroids are the answer. They simply are not. EVERYTHING else you do is what will produce the results you seek.Right, they can co-exist. That's the goal. I know I won't always be strong at times or not look fluffy at times.

I completely agree. But it will come back when you go back to a neutral or positive energy balance, why not grit your teeth and look to maintain your strength best you can (good indication of preserving muscle) while you finish your diet phase? 200-300 test should be enough to put above natural ranges, if you are losing a lot of strength, I’d look into your nutrition and recovery first rather than chems

That's fine. But we all all here for a reason. You, like most people today, have been led to believe that steroids are the answer. They simply are not. EVERYTHING else you do is what will produce the results you seek.
Just focus on the 95% of this game and forget about drugs. Until you need them anyway.
100% accurate. You, like most people today, have been led to believe that steroids are the answer. They simply are not. EVERYTHING else you do is what will produce the results you seek.

Or just count cals and eat less.a very helpful advice i can give you here - dont count kcals, it absolutely doesnt matter really. by what i mean, if u are on 100g rise per day and keep it like that, just do carb-load days, like 4 days on 100g, 2 days on 400g. this way you gonna give your body the energy and gonna keep ur strength, also the rotation gonna help ur body to no “adjust” to your diet and you wont hit a plateu, you gonna keep loosing fat.
try this with 2 splitted workouts per day - morn and aftern, after every workout do your cardio, again both workouts, and trust me, you can even cut ur test on 150 and u gonna have better results bcs of the diet.

Or just count cals and eat less.
Don't need a complicated system of pulleys and levers lol
But.. counting your calories and keeping in your macros will also do this.nah, thats what im saying. kcals doesnt matter. the protocol i said is 1000% more effective, and thats a basic stuff. are the people that lazy to put on the scale 100g rise and cook it? its just a more deep biology what the body needs per day for a normal function, with the added cardio and 2x training he gonna be in big deficit for sure, burn alot fat, on the other hand these 2 “charging” days, he gonna fuel his body with energy, gonna look way more hard, leas bloated, keep the muscle that he’s “scary” to loose, dont hit a plateu because of the carb rotation and reach the goal faster with way more success. again, it depends how much effort everbody wanna put, but this is way more effective and i can put 100% my word on that.
do what u want man, count the kcals then, like u dont listen to nobody here. trust me nobody gonna spend the time here to give u better advice. its not the idea to “count the macros”…But.. counting your calories and keeping in your macros will also do this.
And it's much easier..
Literally other people are disagreeing with you currently.do what u want man, count the kcals then, like u dont listen to nobody here. trust me nobody gonna spend the time here to give u better advice. its not the idea to “count the macros”…
up the protein as much as u can to keep ur muscle, do this rotation on 100g rice, make 2 training per day with 2 times cardio and ue fat gonna fade away in a minimum time.
its not my advice, its a information that u wont get from gym bros.. i told you do whag you want, i dont attack you. i wanted to help. anyway, this is a ifbb pro method by the bodybuilders, because my father is competiting there. you can put in google Stanimir Etov, he’s also not counting kcals, but he is on 4-5%bf. i did this myself, i almost get there aswell. so when you hit a plateu later and put another thread “can i put tren on 10%bf to get to 6” remember my advice. wish u all the best no bad feeling, good luckLiterally other people are disagreeing with you currently.
Don't bring the past conversation into some wild overcomplicated solution you just brought to the table and then call me out when I and others don't agree with you.
Just because you have your own solution doesn't mean others need to take your advice.

Thanks brother, best of luck.its not my advice, its a information that u wont get from gym bros.. i told you do whag you want, i dont attack you. i wanted to help. anyway, this is a ifbb pro method by the bodybuilders, because my father is competiting there. you can put in google Stanimir Etov, he’s also not counting kcals, but he is on 4-5%bf. i did this myself, i almost get there aswell. so when you hit a plateu later and put another thread “can i put tren on 10%bf to get to 6” remember my advice. wish u all the best no bad feeling, good luck![]()
I don't know WTF is with people. It's as if someone has to be in single digits to take anything anymore in this narcissistic world. Yes, I would add 40 mg/d of Anavar and I would see a pretty dramatic change in my look.Fair.
I'll drop it and look into increasing test instead.
