The Gasman Files

You two make me feel like a fatty. I wish I could get full to that extent.

@GasmanX it's awesome you are growing on that amount of test. Hyper responder!
I’ve definitely made more progress on the 600 than last year using test/primo/deca. Obviously other stuff comes into play but yea, don’t see adding anything else in the foreseeable future

A nice little score that I picked up. More test and arimidex. I grabbed the anadrol as a pick me up to throw in once in a while if I feel like I need it. Not planning to add it as part of my current run.IMG_9406.jpeg

Non training day. Went in and got an hour done on the elliptical. Upper tomorrow.

Average weight for the week 202.6 an increase of 2 pounds. Conditioning still looks similar to the last few weeks. Don’t know where all this weight is coming from. All uncharted territory for me.

Kurt said don’t change anything and keep it going so that’s what I’m gonna do IMG_9540.jpegIMG_9539.jpegIMG_9538.jpegIMG_9501.jpeg

Haven’t changed in almost 2 months.

Recipe for success! You guys are dialed in. Almost identical to mine except I go lower carb on my off day.

Surprised your weight jumped as much as it did recently with no bump in cals.

It must be the response to higher test and GH. Both are at the highest I have ran.

Also that “lowish” volume allowing for consistent progressive overload 😉

making me consider lowering my protein intake if ur growing and staying lean on just 180 😮
I've read a lot of Alan Aragon and I tend to agree a lot of people in our community likely overeat protein. 0.8 -1 gram per pound is most likely enough.

I've ran protein higher in the past but it was in the context of a deficit, more for satiating purposes

How low are the carbs on your off days?

I'm a fan of the "lower" protein intake. Justin talks about it all the time but he doesn't implement it in his clients, and I don't get it. He has me eating 300g of protein and I think I would be much better off in a growing phase eating less protein in favor of carbs. Digestion wise, I think the last 4-6 weeks of my growth phase would have been productive instead of a set back.

That’s really interesting. Does he give you a reason why?

Ive never talked directly to him about it. But in some of the lives that he does, he always says that he works with super heavyweights. If they aren't supers now, he puts the size on them to become supers. If you try and feed a super heavyweight 200g of protein, or a "low protein diet" (in the bodybuilding world), they freak out and think they are catabolic 24/7. I think it's just not worth his time trying to baby every client, and let them know everything is going to be okay. :ROFLMAO: It would be a nightmare trying to rewire every large bodybuilders mind, and change the entire industry with the protein thing.

I don't know if any of you follow him closely, but he went on a terror with this throughout 2024. Almost every interview he did on youtube, he dives into the math of how ridiculous 300g-500g of protein is. If our body even used 12.5g of protein a day for new muscle tissue, that would be 10lbs of actual tissue added each year. 25g/day would be 20lbs of tissue. Obviously our body uses protein to fix and rebuild damaged cells around our body, but its not anywhere close to an additional 300g/day. Probably more like 25-50g/day. Once you do the math, its actually pretty crazy how much protein everyone eats. Seems like a waste of digestive energy on the body when you could just eat the carbs directly that the unused portion of protein will eventually be converted to.

Yea I’ve heard hiM go over the math whenever he’s on anabolic bodybuilding. That’s why I was surprised when you said how much protein you eat but your explanation of him dealing with super heavyweights make perfect sense. At some point you just throw your hands up and say fuck it 🤣

Justin always has his head in studies and thus usually ahead of the curve. I remember years ago he started going by what the literature was showing regarding protein intake. It's probably the most studied topic over the last 5 years and it's pretty conclusive on what is required and when it becomes excessive turning into glucose. Justin was also one of the first with his high day only insulin use, which was fucking brilliant.

Amazing how many coaches now have shifted from the high protein intakes over the last few years.

I couldn't agree more and clearly the physiques haven't deteriorated from the decrease in protein consumption. Just eating expensive rice as Justin puts it

Lower 12/29

Standing calf 1 x 5 (212.5) 1 x 6 (410) +2.5 pounds on top, no change to back off
Adductor 1 x 6 (430) no change
Seated Leg curl 1 x 5 (230) 1 x 6 (227.5) +2.5 pounds to top set, no change to back off
Hack Squat 1 x 5 (5 PPS) +10 pounds per side
Leg extension 1 x 5 (290) 1 x 8 (285) +5 pounds to top set, +2 reps to back off
Unilateral Cable Curl 1 x 7 x 5 (48.5) +1 rep to top set, no change to back off
Cable Rope Crunch 1 x 7 x 5 (100) - new movement

One hour Z2 on the elliptical

A couple notes, i never train abs but decided this needs addressing to add some thickness. I am planning to make a point of doing at least one set 4x/week at 0 RIR, no change in methodology. I'm tired on seeing the one ab crunch machine monopolized by the fats at the gym so that is why i chose the rope crunch.

Knees have been achy as fuck when doing hack squat, at least 4-5 feeder sets before hitting that top set. That is why I alternate the big compound movement on lower days. One day is SLDL and Hack on the other. Not sure what to attribute this to other than I'm just getting old.

12/30 Upper

T Bar row 1 x 7 x 4 (180) +1 rep on top set, no change on back off
Kelso shrug 1 x 8 (235) +3 reps
HS lat row 1 x 7 (4PPS + 35) +1 rep
Lat pulldown 1 x 8 x 5 +1 rep to both sets
rear delt fly 1 x 12 (225) +3 reps
Incline smith 1 x 8 (3PPS + 7.5) +4 reps
Shoulder press smith 1 x 8 (2PPS + 17.5) +1 rep
Machine fly 1 x 7 x 5 (235) +5 pounds to both sets
Cable lateral (wrist cuff) 1 x 8 x 5 (38.5) +3 reps to top set, +0.5 pounds to back off
V bar pushdown 1 x 6 x 5 (170) +5 pounds to both sets

Last trained upper on 12/28 so the volume was dropped a few sets throughout the workout. The recovery was there. I don't know where the hell that +4 came from on the incline press. Completely out of nowhere.

I also decided to start with the pull movements to give them some priority. I mentally try to remember to do this every third upper. Personally I think my back is nicely developed and my priority has been to bring the chest up a bit more which is why most upper sessions start with the presses.
