So since Heavy has got me nervous again…. I went thru my small food storage.

Found a lot of shit expired. My fault for not rotating.

I looked online and they really seemed to indicate expiration dates are pretty much bullcrap.

What’s your take on this?

I have cans of soup, tuna and chicken a year “old.”

Having learned from this, I am going to do a better job of rotation.

But also plan to just stock mainly rice, dry beans, and canned chicken.

Figure I could go a really long time on these items.

Anyone else have a few go to items that last a really really long time when stored??

I have a decent amount of ammo… Bc I figure no matter what, being able to protect and hunt will always be in season.

Also thought about items that would “trade” well.

Then again, might be paranoid for no real reason. After all I got this stuff two years ago when Biden was elected and things were supposed to go sideways.

I live on a farm now a days so prepping is kinda common with just about everything. Especially with no income other than selling the beef. Dogs are important bro. They truly are man’s best friend. I’m not taking about some little Shitzoo thing either. I’m talking about real ass dogs that can provide much needed awareness and protection from everything. Don’t forget they gotta eat and use water too. That’s important. Second smaller animals like chickens are always good to have around for obvious reasons. Stock water and have the necessary chems to clear out the cobwebs if you have to start using it. Can goods and somekind of cooler type room would be a nice addition. Being able to freeze your meat would be nice. Tons of outher things we do on the regular that would help keep us here for what I would hope could be years. Always be ready to bug out though. Have a 48hr pack ready to roll at all times. Meds are important also. Everything here we’ve gotten through our veterinarian. Medicine is medicine at that point.

Damn, I feel so unprepared now.

But a part of me is like? Ppl have talked about stuff like this for years. And nothing.

So my whole heart isn’t into it.

But I also think I should have something going.

However, not buying a farm.

Plus, marauders will just take your shit anyway and shoot your dogs. Jk

Just find all the greasy progressive libtard homes… wear some BLM rainbow shirts.. and gain their trust…. And then tie them up and take everything you need.

A few houses a week and your good for a month.

Damn man that was dark about the dogs. I hope your ass don’t end up at my front door now. Before I would have taken you in but know I’d kick you straight to the curb. Lol

I opened a few cans of vegetables from 2011 last year (2022) and surprisingly, they were perfect. Keep your cans were they wont get super hot or super cold and they will last a long time.

Things will get very bad guys.
They are reducing food & energy supplies daily.
Those "recalls" you keep seeing... thats the govt stockpiling.
A trade embargo on/from China? There goes 90+% of the meds.
Less food supply plus a shrinking dollar that lost petro-status = EXTREMELY high prices on whats left to buy.
There will truly be a "Great Reset" and many will not make it.
Those who do?

Either A: take the CBDC digital cash (which is programmed for how much can be spent on what) microchip, basic universal income, and the vaccines, live in govt housing in a "15min city" with no vehicle.

B. Have enough to survive outside the system and produce your own food and energy, and defend yourself and your assets from the ravenous hoards who are trapped between A & B.

canned goods are fine, if you're storing things like rice, you have to use mylar bags and you can seal those in 5 gallon buckets, if you don’t seal them they will eventually get weebles

These lids fit many size plastic buckets and provide a good seal. I use them for weed storage when I harvest, on black 5gal buckets. And food storage as well.

Certain foods will definitely expire. I had some cans of fruit that were a year or two beyond expiration and the cans swelled and some even ruptured. Check all your cans for any swelling and if you find any damage to the cans at all like dents or deformation toss them in the trash. We rotate stock but some foods still expire a few years after the dates on them so we donate them to a food pantry.

I cannot stress this enough. Get together with like minded folks before things go sideways. Might start with folks at your church.

I’m curious. What do you think is going to happen

I started some prepping decades ago because I have always been a guy who likes being prepared. Maybe a natural disaster or maybe a power outage or maybe 15 days of quarantine (this happened to my family in 2021). Or maybe the Antifa BLM riots will fire up again. Could literally be anything.

I think Augustine is referring to this thread.

Thx guys. Good input.

Definitely want to get a larger storage of dry beans, rice and canned chicken.

I just had stuff like canned stew, hash, etc that were expired or expiring that I didn’t want to just toss.

Living in city life makes it harder.

I just started watching “last of us” and it heightened by senses.

Good show btw.

Be careful with canned tuna. Ive opened expired cans that were pretty bad even though they were fully sealed. I like to read up on prepping but Im a true minimalist and have the bare essentials for most things. The one thing I keep on hand is extra weapons parts and plenty of ammo. I also have decent go bag thats an actual 50 liter hiking pack with all my essentials. My food prep is almost non existent.

Mrs Swolle found these at the local Hyvee. Nearly four pounds of the equivalent of Cocoa Pebbles for $10. She got three, but I don't think they'll last until the end times, lol

Wow.

U could definitely trade that for ammo or liquor. Will be hard to get when shit goes to shit. Lol

Aren’t we all like minded? Thought that’s what this forum was for….

We should be linking up and solidify ourselves.

Strength in numbers.

Should put this together. It just may be the difference.

How old were the cans?

Like someone said, no dents or damage is important

Ammo is good. But get at least 30 days of food.

I just keep the weaponry and ammo in stock in various locations

Oh definitely but I was more talking about a time where there may be interruptions to the internet and you will need someone close by that has your back.

I wouldnt want to spend my last yrs of life living in the woods. Cold, shitting in a hole, having to bust through 3' of ice to get water.
Fighting off every fucktard that wants your stuff, just isnt worth it to me.
Send me to Jesus ASAP.

Anyone wanna post a “go bag” checklist?

What are the items I should have in a get outta dodge type bag?

I got a few hiking bags in storage… just thought I’d get some ideas…

The food source in my opinion you should be prepping is rice. Reason being, nature can’t provide adequate carbs associated with a modern diet. Think of all the people who live off the grid in Alaska, they supplement lack of carbs for high fat eating things like seal oil and moose fat. Many, many people have starved trying to be bushman so if that’s your plan for the end of days, invest in something that has a long shelf life, high in calories, easily prepared and easily thrown in a back pack. Nature is filled with protein, nobody should be prepping canned tuna.

Fundamentals: Extra magazines, fire, shelter (tarp) (light tent), water purification (iodine tabs) (lifestraw), dry cloths (water resistant), knife, extra socks, one pot, fork /spoon double sided, plastic water bottle, rope, extra batteries for optic.
This is what I keep in my ruck but you can play with it however you like but warmth, shelter and water are essential. In my carrier itself I keep a trauma kit, 2 way radio, mags and a camel pack.

Love it.

I forgot the tarp.

Every show on tv… tarp is huge. I will work on it.

It’s so fucking sad to even be thinking this way.

Hate Biden.
