Significant assassination in Iraq: A senior figure in the pro-Iranian militia in Iraq, "Kataib Hezbollah," Abu Hassan al-Fariji, was eliminated in Babil province in central Iraq, according to reports last night (between Wednesday and Thursday) from Arab media outlets. The reports did not specify who was behind the assassination.
A security source confirmed to the media in Iraq that al-Fariji was killed in an airstrike on his vehicle, which took place on Wednesday.
According to the source, the senior member of the pro-Iranian terrorist organization was killed along with another person who was traveling with him in the vehicle, likely his bodyguard.
A source told the Emirati website Al-Ain that a drone attacked a Land Cruiser vehicle belonging to the umbrella organization of the Shiite militias (Hashd al-Shaabi).
The source said that al-Fariji, a senior member of Kataib Hezbollah, was the "operations commander" in the organization. According to him, he was also the commander of units in the Jurf al-Sakhar area in Babil province.
Recently, there has been an escalation in Iraq with multiple attempts to launch drones and missiles. The pro-Iranian organizations in Iraq have claimed responsibility for dozens of attacks against American bases. This is against the backdrop of the war in Iran and the assassination of the supreme leader of the Ayatollah regime, Ali Khamenei.
