A family member does border security and immigration work. He's a "boots on the ground" guy.

Had dinner with him last night and he said, the day that Trump took office the number of crossings he was seeing and interacting with dropped to almost nothing.

They were using most all of their man power to try and stop crossings or detain/process people and now, it's almost exclusively needed for sending illegals back across to Mexico.

He thinks it's going to be a cycle though. We're seeing a sharp decline in crossings (his words were virtually none) but, over time those numbers are going to go back up.
