That’s not a strange take at all, you nailed it. Democrats get around 90% of the black vote, all they need to do is play the race card and they fall in line like sheep. It’s worked well for them for decades. Despite being a smaller percentage of the population, that kind of virtue signaling is amplified when half the country is just as easily manipulated.
