Iam hell bent on becoming overly fit once again in my life. I’ve been an athlete and an active old guy but the years seem to have caught up to me.
After a bad automobile accident left me with multiple surgeries and just beat to shit iam feeling ready to at least try fucking hard again.
I have been recovering since dec 24 from the accident. A shoulder surgery, hip replacement and ankle surgery and a bad head injury.
I let myself go and gained more weight than I ever have in my life. Iam a small guy 5 5 150 right this second but was up to 170. I live in the mountains and I started kayaking again and I’ve been doing a kettlebell routine three days a week and also a kayak exercise deal on the pond (I do whitewater on river twice a week).
Iam on week 6 of diet and exercise and feel like iam getting past the aches and pain a little and I wanted to ask a few questions .
Iam wondering if guys like me take gear just to heal up from trauma and age related pain?
I broke my back in 2010 ruptured and extruded two discs and had fusion s1-l5.i was doing ok but never young again but super active in life .
After the wreck I just hurt pretty bad and iam having trouble recovering and I am nervous to go to hard for another injury.
Iam making an appointment with a mens health doctor to do blood work and talk about things that may increase my success but part of me just wants to start medicating myself within reason.
I have a long history in a weight room from college sports and there was a time I put my toe in the power lifting pool but it’s been two decades since I did any serious lifting.
Iam actually excited to try and be over muscled lol. Iam pretty fit-ish for a guy my age but I want more.
Curious if any of you share any of my story or have any advice to give. Sorry long first post ! Thanks Charlie
