Histidine is 1 of the 9 essential amino acids people must get from food. It is in most protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, and eggs. It is also in soy, whole grains, beans, and nuts. It's used in growth, repair of damaged tissues, and making blood cells. It helps protect nerve cells. It's used by the body to make histamine.

Recommended intake
Amino acids are available as single AAs or in AA combinations supplements. They also come as part of multivitamins, proteins, and food supplements. The forms include tablets, fluids, and powders.

Side effects and toxicity
Using a single amino acid supplement may lead to negative nitrogen balance. This can lessen how well your metabolism works. It can make your kidneys work harder. In children, single amino acid supplements may cause growth problems.

So why do we here at ASF want L-Histidine , simple....it helps improve digestion and increase muscle carnosine concentrations. Histidine is a component of carnosine, a dipeptide found in skeletal muscle.

What's a bodybuilder dosage?

8–12 mg of histidine per kilogram of body weight per day, which is less than 1.5 grams per day for most adults. However, bodybuilders typically consume at least two to three times that amount in their diet.
