Hello my girlfriend just tried placing an order for some reta. She was going to send the bitcoin over but noticed when you copy the wallet address and go to pay for it it does not match what it shows there. When you past the address it does not match what the number is on the k4l invoice. Is this by design somehow but she was too afraid to send the bitcoin.

So you copy the bitcoin address to your clipboard. You go to paste it in your crypto address that you’re going to send to it paste a number that is very similar. Well not very similar the last three and first three numbers are the same usually.

So they generate an address that is similar to the one you want to.

I pasted a screenshot into Claude code and it told me it was malware. It’s called a clipper virus.

Be careful man almost sent a lot of money

Bro i fucking hate scammers so gd much. How does it get onto your phone/computer? Did you pick it up during the communication with a fake K4L or was it just picked up randomly and just waited for a btc transaction?

I was thinking about it all last night laying in bed. I'm pretty sure I picked it up from a bootleg movie website. a few months ago I accidentally clicked something on a pop up and it downloaded something. At the time I didn't think much of it. But that definately popped into my head as I was laying there last night.

If you are worried download a program called maleware bytes. It has a free trial and claude code said its the best tool to catch this kind of thing. It also reccomended I do a fresh windows 11 install to make sure nothing was left behind. It would be a huge pain in the ass cause all my games and programming bullshit but I think I'm going to do it.

I'm never watching boot leg moives on this device again. I'm building a business with this computer and now I'm freaking out because my codebase may be infected. This app handles very sensitive information for the construction industry. Be careful man I was shaking when I saw it past the wrong address. My GF is like its fine just send it. I'm like fuck no lol.

I got malware on my ps4 back in the day from a bootleg movie site called Soap2day.com so its possible lol
