Hello all,

Looking for a bit of advice here. I have spent the last 6 months going back and forth with my doctor about my ferritin levels. Started at 19 and now up to 27. I was instructed to take an iron supplement once a day.

I still have all the symptoms. Nothing has changed, if anything gotten worse. I expressed my concern again and asked about an iron infusion. She has never heard of it and forward me to a hemoglobin doctor. This doctor said a ferritin level was totally normal for a 40 year old male.

Now comes the confusion, I reached out to a ‘hydration room’ about getting an iron infusion. They schedule me with a nurse practitioner. She was basically the exact opposite and said this should be immediately addressed and treated. She says I have iron deficiency anemia. And they recommend 3 visits 4 days apart before retesting lab work 3 to 4 weeks after. The base goal is a level of 100.

I’m just trying to wrap my head around this and looking for insights from someone who’s had iron infusion treatment. And why the complete opposite from both ends.

I have donated power red twice in 12 months.
100mgs a week of test
1.5 gallons of water a day.
Cardio has taken a big hit. I was doing 30 mins everyday before this.

I wouldnt donate any further

What are your symptoms ?

What are you supplementing with and at what dosage?

You mentioned "all the symptoms" which are what exactly?

I donated because I thought that was part of the problem. HBG was 16. Which in return made things even worse. I had the same symptoms before I donated blood.

Stiff joints and muscles
Low appetite
Brain fog / unexplained ability
Dizziness / lightheaded, if I crouch down and stand up quickly
Restless legs
Feeling exhausted after eight hours of sleep (the help of a sleep aid)
Shortness of breath after mild exercise
Pale skin and ears.

I have been tested and cleared for sleep apnea. So I went down the rabbit hole of possible causes and randomly asked her to check my iron levels. I’m just confused by the two different end results for treating.

The vitamin C will help iron absorption

What are your Test and E2 levels ?

How’s your blood pressure ?

Maybe get a cardiology evaluation, EKG, holster monitor , echo etc

Also make sure you’re getting enough sodium in your diet
