I have been trying to decide if I want to go through with TRT for a year now and have it on my counter, but need some advice. I went on Reddit and everyone is saying not to go on but I’d like some input from you guys.
I’m 35. Weight 155, 5’10.
My total t is 615, free t is 86, and shbg is 59. The clinic told me while my total numbers look good, shbg is eating up my free testosterone. I want to be jacked and I work out 4 days a week with a trainer, have been for 3 years and barely see any gains. I am always very sore. I eat very healthy and get 200 grams of protein per day, get 8 hours of sleep every night and have no stress. I barely have a sex drive but have no problem getting it up. Not planning on having kids.
Would going on 150mg testosterone per week make a difference in muscle gain? I’m sorry if I sound stupid, just trying to figure out why I’m so sore all the time. My trainer said poor recovery could be a result of low t, and the clinic said if I raise it I might see better performance in the gym.
All I have ever wanted is to be muscular and I’m so skinny after three years it is driving me absolutely crazy.
I dont think people on Reddit are informed about shbg and free testosterone, so should just ignore them but now I’m even more confused than before.
Any help would be awesome.
Thank you :)

615 isn't low, it's mid range. Would going to 900 help? Maybe a little bit if everything Else is already perfect. Are you willing to do injections for the rest of your life? Do you want to be enhanced and run cycles? I personally had to go on TRT. My total was 170 and my free was 12. I had every symptom on the list. TRT made a massive difference for me. But going from 600 to 900, I don't think it's going to be a massive difference for you. Going from 600 to 2000 on the other hand probably would be. It really just comes down to what level of risk you are willing to assume. You could try using boron to lower your SHBG before you make a commitment to TRT. That's where I would personally start.

This is great stuff. Everything he said.

I don’t mind injecting forever. I want to gain muscle. I guess I want to know if testosterone replacement would allow me to gain muscle since it’s so hard for me. I have been making progress at the gym with my trainer for three years and literally look like I’ve never worked out. If I do it and get to 1200, would gains be easier? Sorry, I know it’s hard to answer but someone has to have some info. The clinic obviously says yes, but $$$. I tried boron and it did not work for me.

Go to GoH4M.com, upload your own or get a full bloodwork and make a free consult. Ryan and his team are experts including treating high SHBG.

H4M is on reddit too, ask them your question there if you wish, but they're the only ones I'd trust on Reddit.

That is who I went through. I got it prescribed and they told me it would help with my low-ish free testosterone. I just want to make sure I’m doing the right thing.

You've done some due diligence, that's good. Legit TRT, like within acceptable medical range, should bump that free up and SHBG down so you'll see something but it won't be drastic. It sounds like you want more of a mild cycle for your goals. If you've done the research and you know what you're jumping into, then sure, give it a go.

I have to do more research on cycles. I don’t know how it works. Would a cycle of 150mg per week work for gains then just stop using it?

Nah the blast and cruise method is far superior to coming off full stop. You would be better running TRT (probably closer to 200 a week) then bump it up to 3-400 for a few months (watching blood work and adjusting protocol as needed for health markers and side effects). Then come back to TRT to give your body a rest.
