Yoooo hello everyone! This is my first thread, just wanted to introduce myself- I'm GhostOfBlacula.

Here is my physique right now, currently at 178.4 lbs. Currently on a bulk.. I'm not using any gear yet, but I'm wondering how far I have left before that changes.
I've been lifting for about five years, but never started a serious program until last year. Absolutely zero experience with substances, but I've tried to be knowledgeable and learn from others' mistakes. I've been bulking for about two and a half months and have gained, give or take, 5 lbs. I started at 173.6 lbs.

My stats:

6'1''
179 lbs
28 years old

Opinions on my physique are appreciated and thanks for reading!
Sorry, I'm slightly bloated because I just ate some bison

Looking good so far, definitely lots of room for improvement. I'd say stick to eating enough and training hard. If you decide to take the Gear route which I'm no one to tell you not to, do you're research and start small. A lot of gains can be made with smaller amounts of doses. Don't want to be the guy who started his first cycle with tren and eq and Dbol or halo.

What's your nutrition looking like? How many calories are you aiming for? Do you follow a meal plan ?

Thanks my dude! Yeah I read about those, not going to until later.
Nutrition is not bro-style at all, I mainly eat what I want within reason, so a lot of pasta, burritos, cauliflower, chicken, etc. Very rarely do I eat sweets. I follow a meal plan kind of... just getting a specific amount of protein in- average 230g a day. 3000-3500 calories daily.
Looking to add more size to my arms, they feel so small...

Well as long as nutrition is dialed in and training as well, you should put on a good amount of weight, the fact that you are very lean will help a lot.

Definitely keeping up with my eating habits

Currently, I'm sitting at 8.9% bf. I adjust my training to try to break plateaus, but I'm wondering if a small test cycle will help me hold onto some of that muscle when I cut next year?

I mean, you already know the answer to this question - right?

So what are you really asking?
Looking for someone to green light or talk you out of using gear, maybe?

BTW great job getting as lean as you are. Time for a good long growth phase IMO (don't neglect the legs... pics with legs cropped out usually indicate neglected legs).

Oh boy reminds me of me at 25. A well trained ectomorph, lean af with a few years of hard natural under his belt. What I wouldnt give to be a gear virgin in that state again

My advice learn as much as you can and make your first blast test only, 300-400/week. Then get ready because the next 10-12 weeks will be the ride of your fkn life, and there'll never be another one quite like it

But be patient and make sure youre ready. You can always start but you never get a chance to repeat that first one again. Pro tip: overtrain for a couple weeks right before you start

Looking good bro! Day to day! Keep the journey going. Just eat 6 times per day. You def have room to grow and when the time is right and your ready then you can decide💪🏽

Great job brother. Eating is the major part of this sport. At this point you need to evaluate what you want to look like not what we think. I would recommend hiring a coach for few months to layout the road map for you. It will definitely help you with your journey.
Well done and good luck

I appreciate that man! I mean, it was more of an open thought than a question to everyone- if I wanted to take something I would just do it.... but sort of thinking out loud. Was also hoping for a similar story from someone I guess.

My bathroom is small so I couldn't take pics of my legs. If you really want a pic I could hahaha

Great advice!! Wish I could give you a medal. Thanks for the nice sentiment Joe.

Appreciate that and thank you for the advice... your avi looks extremely aesthetic mate. Cheers

Looking good. It’s all up to you if you stay natty or try aas. If you want to take it up a notch do a testosterone cycle. Best for first run imho.

Yeah I'll wait. I was thinking of re-evaluating closer to 200 lbs... I'll see what's up. Thanks for your input Xan.
Btw, what do you think I should work on on my body? Couple of people were asking for legs but besides that.

Your upper body seems pretty balanced overall, haven’t seen your legs. Just keep it up!

Considering the name of this board, I'll be a square for this.

But if you haven't being doing this for a substantial amount of time... typically 8+ years (arbitrary), I really wouldn't advise that you start taking gear for gains.
It's taking long term risks for short term results.

If you've been doing this for a long period of time and can realistically see yourself committing to this lifestyle, well, for life... then yeah, sure, jump on gear.

Most dudes show up in the gym for 6 months to a year - just long enough to get a girlfriend, then stop lifting so they can get weak, fat, and single again. Then they get on gear, back in the gym... you see the cycle.

If this is you - meaning - if your real goal is just to pull bitches, then just stay natty.
No shame either way, most guys started in the gym because they thought chicks liked big biceps (I know I did) - that's just not a good reason to be fucking with your endocrine system.

Welcome abroad bro! looking great!
what's your goal?
I also recommend starting with 300-400 mg/week of Test (split dosage) for 12 weeks
but before you do that you should have a bloodwork
also, have ancillaries ready such as nolvadex, clomid, HCG and aromasin or arimidex (y)

Welcome aboard, good looking frame! Keep doing your research, I agree with test only if you’re gonna go to the dark side. Stay away from orals, don’t go off of people’s crazy cycles.. most of us are steroid addicts taking way more than we should.. lol. But, if you want to dive in.. fuuuck it. Hope the best for you, you have sooo much time ahead of you!

You have a good base so far. I'll give you my scenerio when I jumped in. I'm just a little taller at 6'2" and was 225 when I jumped into the ring. Could I have grown a little more training natty for another 5 years, yeah probably, but I had already been training for 8 years and I was an impatient 22 year old, that had researched for a good year and a half. I wasn't as lean as you were, but I wasn't fat for sure. I was a skinny ecto that eventually figured out diet helped put on muscle. It was probably a little easier at that age when test levels were higher. I started at 140, grew to 225( and grew a couple inches, each inch is about 10lbs), then did my first cycle and blew up to 255. Yeah still small in my eyes, a little bit of water, but man was it awesome.
If you haven't started researching, start doing that. Don't know where to start? Just go through every thread in the anabolic sub forum you can read for at least a good year. There's so much you don't realize you need to know before jumping in. It sounds like your mature enough to not just jump in because " I want bigger arms yo". Once you decide your ready, if you actually want to use AAS, start another thread and lay out everything you have, or will get, to be sure you have everything on hand. Try and maintain this level of leanness, it's a great spot.
Good luck bro, and we're here for any questions the search function will bring up most topics, so that'll keep you busy for months.

That's probably a good plan. Personally, I started at 28. The limbic system (control of emotions) of the brain doesn't mature completely until ~27. The hypothalmic pituitary, testes axis (HPTA) also does so around then. You are more likely to have less emotional issues and trouble restarting your HPTA in your late 20s rather than your teens.

I suppose I'll share about my journey. Started lifting because a roommate in school was a hardcore gym goer, I mean, this dude was straight yolked, shredded. Went to the gym with him absolutely baked and failed on almost everything I tried to match him with. So funny looking back at it now. Graduated, came back home and realized I wanted to do something with my life. I didn't care about girls, didn't care about friends really, I was just basking in my loneliness. I decided to try to improve something about myself so that I could say my time at home wasn't wasted. I wasn't going to be there forever and I felt asking my parents for advice was like speaking Latin or some other dead language.

I wanted to try again. I got a 24/7 gym membership to one of those bare-bones fitness places and I remember doing bench press on the smith machine (yes... it was a dark time) and I was randomly browsing the internet when I saw that people had condemned smiths for bench, squat, really any movements. I didn't even finish the set. I was so disheartened and just walked out the gym. So I started over the next week and used flat bench, squat rack, etc. At this point, I was about 158 lbs, maybe a little heavier. Didn't know much about nutrition and did a yo-yo diet where I would eat a lot, then basically eat nothing because I didn't lift that day. This was a 3 day split I was doing at the time. Got a job at Dollar Tree and a local cinema for $7.25/hr each (no tips) where I worked for 14+ hours daily and would come home to the gym RIGHT after. Just circled my wheels and continued neglected eating.

After this, I stopped smoking weed for a bit and did two bulk cycles after more research, going to 165 for the first one, then 170 for the second. I remember doing OHP 135 x 5 reps (1 set, strict form, no leg momentum or anything) and I was so proud of myself, at how skinny I was. I loved setting records for myself. Fast forward, I moved to another state where I met this gym owner named Paul who told me I had a very skinny, but firm base ready to put on muscle. I had never had ANYONE compliment me on my body at this point. He said I could be a monster if I just applied myself. So I took his advice and learned everything I could, seriously, then got the frame I have today from two years of on-and-off training.

I guess to sum it up, I never cared about what people thought of me, or what girls think of me, just wanted to set and break goals for myself and change my body- it was so interesting to see my striations, chest popping, all that jazz. So yeah. but I haven't been in the gym for eight years

Thanks my man! My two goals are to bring up my bench tremendously, my overhead and to consistently go up in pendlays. I know it's an odd exercise, but I love the way I feel after doing it. I want size and definition, plus tighter abs and leg striations. Also I'd like a more defined chest and a sculpted back. Not trying to be extremely jacked to the point of competing, but more manageable, yet obviously ripped. I would like to see how I look at 190 lbs after this bulk (after cutting), so not quite sure how 200 lbs will look like just yet at the end of this bulk.

Appreciate the story and thanks for sharing! Yeah, I've been reading forums for the past week or so because I'm at a point where my body is going through the most obvious changes of my life and also, I'd like to keep my leanness. My diet is good and my arms are starting to grow. Just don't know how long that will last and how much of the muscle I'll hold onto when I diet. I mentioned it here before, but my goal is to finish this bulk at 200.
