I had an expired one sitting in my bathroom drawer. Figure I’d use it before I go back to Mexico.
This is the cheapest, oldest version I think you can get. Doesn’t work with phone (coded for Mexico only) so here is the reading from the “lector” (reader).
Look how good my pancreas works.
I used to really sweat it when pushing food but even then, I got similar reading.
What if your body works just fine without needing exogenous insulin?

What am amazing tool!

So your sensors last 15 days like the newer version?

Yes, but it will fall off or the needle will bend, rendering it useless before the two weeks.
Btw, what you don’t see is my consumption of that cranberry walnut bread that should be sending levels through the roof.

Use a strip of rock tape. Keeps mine on.

Where do you place it?

I’ve heard most do the triceps but that the readings can be all over if super lean

Is there other areas that would work well too?

Mine is on my tricep right now. I have put them on my belly when I was "fluffy" but I am still pretty lean. I can feel the damned thing grinding on my muscle...I swear. Probably not but I don't think my tricep is quite yet the "bingo wing" that I see CGMs on around town or at the beach in Cabo.
I have lower back fat and that's probably a great place for it but it is ver thensitive. I am a thensitive guy.

I have an MRI on the 23rd so I needed to use this thing before then. I can buy as many as I want at Costco when I get home.
I will probably run one when I am doing MOTS-C just so I don't go hypo and croak.

That’ll be great data with the mots-c honestly, especially if you have readings before you start it to compare it to. That info would be gold

Same. It grinds into me as well. They def don’t seem to be made for low BF.

I’ve almost had to place mine on my quad bc of MMA/Grappling. Just cannot do belly or Tricep. I’ve wasted 2-3 of them bc of the needle bending.

Will still do it about every 6 months or so to check!

Nine days in and reading went from up to 160 to today’s 78 after four biscuits with jam.
Popped it off and…
Shit doesn’t work unless you are fat, apparently. My massive and lean triceps the likely culprit.

I’ve had issues with back of the arm placement too, supposedly due to leanness, using Freestyle Libre 3 / 3+. Just switched to lower chest and it’s been a lot more reliable. Might try stomach or hip next time also.

I had them on my tricep around 8-12% body fat and would get very inaccurate readings compared to my finger prick.
Was just curious.

I’ll do occasional fasted blood sugar checks every few days.

I don’t check it throughout the day as sometimes I even run slightly hypo so I’m not really worried about high blood sugar or insulin resistance (and definitely know what low sugar feels like)

Still though it would be cool to see how high blood sugar peaks and how long it takes for it to come down off “X” amount of carbs, and the type of carb sources. Idk maybe I’ll give a CGM a try down the road to see

It is the only way to truly know...placement and bent needles aside.
I was always worried and when I tried using Humalog once, it was nerve racking. A CGM would have ended all that guessing and saved the tips of my fingers. And in the LOTF, with strips as much as $1/each, it would save some money too.

Mine has the phone app and it will raise all hell (alarms) if BG goes under 70.
Like you said, it takes the guesswork out of it. I don't wear it constantly
but only when I change my GH or insulin dose I'LL wear it for a couple weeks and monitor. After I'm happy with the results. Ill use a cheapy
BG monitor a couple times a week to check fasted BG.

Are you seeing much of a delta between your CGM and your standard glucose monitor? For me the reports vary. Somtimes they are aligned but others, like just now I see 97 on the finger prick but my CGM says 86

A variation but not as great as yours. 5 points tops.

Interesting... Its not always that big of a delta, sometimes its almost exactly the same. Other times I am seeing a 10-11 point difference.
