I’ve been watching a lot fouad abiab and I also watch Greg doucette . I watched a video from Leo longevity last night and he went into how bulking opens up growth path ways from the number of calories that your eating .

Basically he was saying that bulking is much better for building muscle . What you guys think ? Who’s done a proper bulk here bc I personally never have and I really want to try it and see what I can do.
 
I think anything Greg or Leo says is just pure horse shit. Though I do agree. Surprises me though because usually Greg preaches this maingaining bullshit. Sure keeping things tight on the diet you will build muscle slowly and look great . Proper bulk to take things to the next level. I’ve wasted years trying to look cute year round, fuck that. Throw that anabolic food all in the belly , throw in the anabolics and truly add that size and keep it. Fat comes off later. I think people jump into a cut too soon after their proper bulk.
 
What do you think is the proper amount of time to wait after wrapping up a bulk and before starting your cut?
 
cant fucking stand greg and his stupid main gaining bs literally every top tier open ifbb pro has done proper bulks to get that huge and other high level coaches like chad nicholls, matt jansen, etc all believe in bulking

ive always been a big believer in bulking... if you needed to only be in a small surplus everyone would be huge but thats not the case at all

theres no easy way around it you have to be able to put down tons of food to breakthrough plateaus and take the body someplace its never been before

And how many calories ??? your really talking about eating that much to push through when your weight gain stalls I don’t know how I’d do that and still eat clean only. Is there anything out there to help stimulate appetite to help you put the food down??

find your maintenance calories and add 500 calories on top of that

weigh yourself every monday morning fasted after using restroom, if weight stalls for 2-3 weeks increase calories by 250 or 300 cals

keep food as clean as possible and eat foods that digest real easy

once calories start getting high and appetite starts to fall switch out certain foods for more calorie dense items (bagels, english muffins, pasta, bread, nut butters, etc)
also add sauces and seasonings to meals to make it easier to get down and dont be afraid of fruit its another easy source of calories
you can also add in some cheat meals like once a week if you want

I feel the same exact way . I don’t wana be fat at all. I spent years of my life yo yo dieting and I finally found a way that I can maintain my weight and be happy with it .

I’m figuring this out now . After hearing a lot about this it really does seem the way to really get big is to bulk .
 
I’ve been stuck for the last 2 month or so I’d guess . Go to bed 230 ish and wake up 226. I added a extra protein shake w banana and oats, and 1 slice of bread with deli style tuna on top everyday for the past couple weeks . Being someone that eats the exact same shit everyday of my life I could feel the difference and now I wake up closer to 230 where I like it . So I agree that once you found the diet that maintains what you have it so easy and fun to add little at a time, not fun to be stagnant, unless your a older fella maybe or have to keep a certain weight for a sport . I personally prefer the larger look on myself . Some people just love those shredded obliques rear round. I don’t blame em, it’s sexy.

Baseline of intake bumped to a point..then bumped if needed..
Constant over loading major muscle groups..without inducing injury..a Must..

And
Recovery..good quality recovery...a part I truley think is overlooked all the Time..

Adding supps than You may need to push along the bulk..like ie....Liv 52..saw palm..sleep aids..ect.

Leaning on training and not the PED'S..

Yep if you really want to gain size you got to bulk. Which means you are going to be uncomfortable and your mind will be messing with you when loose some abs and vascularity. You don't have to get out of control but you are going to but on fat. The only way to get over the mental part of it is to bulk and then cut in the time you allow yourself to, to realize it can be done and just part of the process. Just my opinion though.
 
It is a mental thing, Bodybuilders bulk 9 months out of the year with a 3 month shred!
Run Deca, Dbol and Test E. If you do, make sure you measure your water weight, fat and lean muscle mass. Jump 3800 to 4000 calories daily. I recently did an interview what girls prefer. Its like guys. We dont like a bulky woman. We are attracted to the lean and defined. Honestly if you are 226 lbs or 230 lbs. You are at a good size to lean out down to 207lbs and look even bigger "muscle wise"

Here’s what I like to do and have other people do.
start at around maintenance and up your calories 200-400 about every 2 weeks. It gives your body time to acclimate to more and more food so you’re not just forcing food down. I actually prefer people to be a little hungry at first. I like for protein to be 1.5-2 grams per lb to start. As calories increase so does protein.
doing this they also need to be focused on progressive overload on all exercises.
the first place I like the calories to be added is post workout.
so week 1-2 would be like 4 scoops of isolate and 2 cups of kids cereal. Week 3-4 would add another 2 cups of cereal or add 2 poptarts. Then week 5 I start upping calories in other meals.

that’s an issue that’s pretty common. I don’t like the idea of force feeding right out the gate. It either leads to getting fat too fast or people just give up because it’s not sustainable.

Make food choices that digest easier and faster so you’re ready to eat again in 2-3hours. Replace 1 or 2 protein sources with a protein isolate or pastures eggwhites. If you’re eating rice replace it with cream of rice. Oatmeal replace cream of wheat. Not sure how high your fats are but it could be worth considering lowering those and upping carbs.

Of rice bc it’s something I can eat any time of the day . Plain or mixed with stuff. I honestly think I went up to fast and didn’t give my body time to adjust . When I actually go for a bulk for real next time I won’t make that same mistake

if you’re trying to get in as many calories as possible then you’re not going to want food to sit on your stomach.

That was the mind set . But At least for me it’s definitely not true . Even when dieting I would eat smaller meals during the day bc I just didn’t want to eat and after work and gym at night I’d eat my largest meals

It doesn’t really slow the metabolism it just takes the food longer to digest. It doesn’t change your maintenance calories. It would only make it harder to get more food in that’s needed to grow.
it would be a good idea in a deficit to do that so you’re starving less.
The 3 things that determine how big you are: how much food you can eat and utilize, how strong you can get, and your dose of drugs.
Doing anything in a growth phase that would hamper your appetite is the opposite of what you want.

Not totally sold on...not slowing the metabolism..in other sports/hobbies it's kinda pushed..But if it works..it works..
See growing up it was complex carbs to constantly fuel the body...never be without fuel to burn..more frequent yes but slow digesting..used to run and cycle..and running out really envokes havoc and if Keystones are released..you Hit the dreaded Wall..

But I without a doubt know my weakest link is nutrition..
And just when things started to click...having to adapt to body changes..Now trying to bulk is 10x harder due to being older..What I used to eat..is pretty much off the menu...trying to balance A1C..HR..BP..Tries..the list is long..Staying healthy above 50 is a full time job.. can't wait till 60..

But I'm always willing to try New things..challenge the old ways..to a Point..
