Blast and cruise…is this still a valid protocol in 2026?

Some of the older vets on the board will remember when this term was first introduced in the community. Over the years as TRT and various health initiatives have grown in observance and popularity, it seems guys are more creative and possibly more reckless in how they use various compounds. Maybe I’m wrong?

With that said, I’m interested to know how many people still use a blast and cruise program.

If so, what is your current blast and cruise dosages?

As for me, I typically run various forms of Test year round in moderate doses with a touch of different compounds throughout the year. It’s been this way for a very long time and it serves me well. With that said, I’m extremely proactive in managing my health through various blood tests and imaging.

How about you?

Still valid? That's what most bodybuilders do. The days of coming off cycle completely are not used very often for obvious reasons.

You cruise at a level that gets your bloods looking good. I personally sit at around 140mg to 160mg while cruising and cleaning out. Some go higher.

My question was more geared towards everyday gym rats not competive bodybuilders. I haven’t been around 140-160 mg per week in almost 30 years.

I’m just a gym rat, as you say. I do a health phase after any push or “blast.” My health phase is ~150-170mg test cyp per week, but I do also keep GH in at about 2iU per day. My cycles are under a gram total of all compounds, at the highest. So, I usually come off a cycle with blood work very close to optimal anyway (maybe slightly elevated alt or something), so my health phase usually isn’t as long as my cycle. I think that’s different than it used to be (not equal time on/off), but I don’t cruise on a light cycle dose just hrt (test and gh replacement doses). Have definitely thought about it but I also feel really good on 150mg a week so I enjoy that time as well. We’ll see if I change that in future but works for me now

Good feedback. I like your plan and adding the GH makes a world of difference.

I wasn't talking only competitors. I don't view the term "bodybuilder" as someone who must compete.

From what I see most gym rats drop to real trt and/or ranges up to 300mg. A lot depends on if they get prescribed TRT and have to get tested for their provider on the cruise dose. If so, they go low side. Self-prescribed guys often run the higher end. Unfortunately, tons of guys never get bloodwork and are taking too much on a cruise IMO. It doesn't take much to hold and retain muscle
