I'm going to take a moment to pat myself on the back for crushing it with respect to my career development.

I've spoken about it before, but I intend to move (in coordination with a new job) around June/July next year. I feel like time is coming short and I'm actually pretty nervous/traumatized from my last job search (80+ applications ghosted). I don't know if this is imposter syndrome or just the way the job market is these days, but it seems like it's both from what I'm reading.
So I'm building a Developer portfolio to augment my job search process.

2 weeks ago I made a script to automate my weekly check-ins because it was a pain in the ass hand-jamming data from Hevy and Cronometer into the spreadsheet every week. Now i just download 3 files (2 from Cronometer and 1 from Hevy) and it outputs my weekly check in.
My last check in was made with this process.

Last week I started programming my online portfolio, and I've got a decent template set up for deployment when I'm ready to start the search again. I intend to fill up my portfolio a good bit (and beef up my resume in the process) before deploying the website, mostly because the portfolio would be a bit empty to deploy right now.
More projects to go.

I'm now working on a program to automate the job application process, because I don't want to manually apply to the hundreds of jobs I'll be shotgun-applying to when its my go time.
I won't be armed with a pea shooter when the next job hunting season is open, I'll be armed with a fucking Howitzer.

So I'm patting myself on the back for taking an already full plate, stacking some more on top of it, and still crushing it.
Physically, I'm tired. But mentally? I'm locked the fuck in.

I don’t understand how the job market is today and the only thing I can think is that employers are mirroring applicants and basing the way they hire on recent employees.
Meaning, since most applicants and new employees don’t really want to work or at the least, don’t take their jobs seriously, neither do the people hiring.

I started looking for work before our anticipated move in 2023 to the US. In the past, I had only applied for jobs a couple of times. All the others, people came to me to ask me to join them.
But in 2023, I could hardly get an interview. A lot of it was ageism I think.
But I have a pretty extensive resume/CV and some of the positions I applied for were high level corporate executive type jobs.
These are usually, in my experience, handled differently than staff psitions like line workers, administrative or other office type jobs.
But even the jobs that my resume aligned perfectly with, I didn’t get the courtesy of a call back or even a response. I doubt they were flooded with qualified applicants for the jobs because some were fairly esoteric.

The interviews I did get, the same. Not even a form letter email thanking me for my consideration.
This was definitely new to me. I have NEVER had a problem getting a job. But I even interviewed for a security guard position at the hospital my daughter works at. Dude sounded like he was going to hire me on the spot.
Then…..crickets.

I don’t envy you and your job search.
In all the madness, use this goal to compete as an external driver and overall motivator.

I know this is an old post but most companies are using AI to filter applications before they get seen by a manager the key is to use the verbiage found in the job post in your resume/cover letter. My girl spent a lot of fucking time applying to jobs, tailoring her resume to the job posting, and making cover letters still she figured that out.

I did this last time. I regularly made it through the first filter (AI) but landed in a stack of other resumes that ended up having me not be that competitive.
If I were competitive, I would have had more interviews than I had.

It was when I said "fuck it" and started spamming out resumes with no CV that suddenly I get called back multiple times and start getting interviews.

So I just have multiple resumes for different positions I'm qualified for (theres like 5 of them) and I just spam those to the respective job posting.
I just made sure that those resumes were tailored to most jobs in that career field, and sent it.

For me, this worked better than tailoring individual resumes and cover letters.


But if I were to build an overpowered application for this, I would have it scan the job listing, alter my resume, then auto apply for me.
If they're gonna use AI to filter out resumes, I'm gonna use AI to make em.

My prep with dusty started the first week of November and didn’t end till April. Gotta do what you gotta do when your fat

??? what do you mean? Is your thyroid downregulated? Did you get bloodwork for that? How much of a deficit were you in?

It takes quite a bit to shoot your metabolism to shit.

You’re only running 2 mg of Reta a week. Bump that dose up.
