seeing videos where people are asked for ID and refuse to comply and it seems to aggrivate cops to where they look for reasons to detain you, my opinion is just hand it over make the interaction quicker they are either gonna let you go or arrest you and that seems to be predetermined, but when they show up for a nothing call and people become difficult they usually end up getting arrested over nothing and that nothing leads to court dates and fines and that can be avoided

idk I just comply with cops cause I dont see how my life could be in a better place if I dont you know what I mean? You might be able to beat the charge but the more you fight the ride, the more they ride you.

I'm going to ask them articulate the crime I'm suspected of committing and if they don't have anything then I'm going to let them know I don't want to provide it but will just because it would eliminate the things I would rather not have to deal with. If it's becomes a big enough problem, it can be handled in litigation.

I'm pro law enforcement and if you're respectful most usually return the respect. I'm also against tyranny though so you should know what you're doing in that profession

Booking sucks, and the courts will try to stick you with some dumbass charge that isn’t even relevant to what you were stopped for. Just because you’re wasting their time.

100% of the time brother. My driving record is spotless 👊🏼

Weirdest thing my insurance tried raising my quote and saying my driving record had a reckless driving. The driving record company they use is third party and not dmv. I had to show them my transcript to get them to take it off.

A reckless driving adds 4 points

Has he gotten you out of some good ones?
No, just regular traffic violations, it’s just been over a couple decades so it’s been quite a few times that he’s saved my ass, even back to back violations in different cities with overlapping probations but in different courts

I haven’t been caught doing anything like going 150mph lol

so he may not have that kinda pull, but as far as regular stuff goes, he’s connected all over DFW in every city he’s the man, funny thing is I’ve never even met the guy, lol

You just go in pay his fee, or now you can do it over the phone and the office calls you and tells you the fine once he shows up for you and you get 90 days probation. As long as you dont get a ticket in that court during the 90 days, it’s 100% dismissed every time

Her btw, I looked into the delta one upgrades, what I found with a quick google search was once you spend 28k+ then you receive medallion points that qualify for free upgrades and I spend no where near that much a year since I travel for leisure not work

Is that how you qualify? or am I missing some info? feel free to PM if you don’t want open board it

I seen enough of them stupid auditors not giving ID and I want to punch them In the face for being jerkoffs, if not doing anything wrong then who cares just give it to them

No matter how good of a law abiding citizen you are you still should never automatically trust a police officer in any type of investigative situation. They are not your friends and 90% of them will fuck you over based on what you say and who you are. If they don’t have to have it I’m not giving it over period. Now obviously there are certain situations where you know there’s no way for you to get hemmed up then sure I’ll show it to them. I understand they have a job to do. Also dont ever just give it to them. Unless you’re detained you have the right to walk away at any time. Cop takes your license to go run your name and you’re stuck there. Not that any of you would have to run away for any reason. Lol

So yeah anyway my vote would be Fuck Them!!!

I live so far out in the sticks that we rarely ever see a cop, though I guess I would produce my ID if one showed up here for some odd reason.

I stopped using gear and no longer have anything to be paranoid about. Yes, I still keep tabs on this forum because I occasionally find it entertaining. It’s sort of a fascinating subculture.

The small town where I live is known as a den of anti-police sentiment, which is unusual given the conservatism of most small towns. A lot of folks here have had trouble with the law and live way out in the booneys to avoid any more run-ins. It reminds me of Dukes of Hazzard somewhat, lol.

If cops seriously started demanding random folks provide ID for no reason, or for jaywalking or some shit, I could see real problems arising. There was once a riot at the tavern when a cop showed up, lol. I’m not saying folks here would kill or beat up the cop, but he sure would not feel welcome…

Sure I would identify myself. Obviously in the context of a crime youre an idiot ever talking to police. I used to live across the street from a hookah bar where a lot of "urban youths" would hangout. One saturday afternoon heard a bunch of gunshots. few minutes later a charger pulls up, and two kids are dragging a guy into it who is bleeding like crazy. Got a good view of all of them from my apartment, could tell where the guy was shot (leg), and my apartment was pretty high up so saw the route they took driving maybe 3-4blocks. Tons of cops show up 5minutes later. Figure I would walk down to tell them what I saw. Detective couldn't have been a more massive dick. Basically all his questioning was acting like I did it or was the main suspect (lol). I'm a 30s clean cut white dude and these are 18 year old kids with dreads. Last time I ever talk to cops voluntarily obviously.

Cops have a lot of ways to get you to admit things. A very good friend of mine is a cop. I went on a lot of ride alongs with him. Hypothetically lets say you blow by a cop doing 55 in a 35 zone and for whatever reason the cop didn't clock you on the radar but he generally can tell your going a lot faster than 35. Cop pulls you over and he introduces himself and asks you "do you know how fast you were going?". Trying to not get nailed you say "I think it was 45-50 officer", At that point the cop can write you a ticket and will note that the suspect admitted to going 50. If you would just say "I don't know how fast I was going" more than likely you will be let go because the cop didn't use any of the methods that can document how fast you were going.

Not all cops are assholes but they have a lot of unlawful ways to arrest you if you don't do what they say. In this situation I would have probably given them my ID and if they ticketed me then I would have fought it in court. Trying to be Atticus Finch (old guys will remember the book To Kill A Mockingbird reference) and telling them what they can and can't do 99% of the time ends up bad for you. Thankfully with most departments requiring body cams be on during any interaction people can start getting treated a bit more fairly.

I tried that once, and the police officer issued me a careless driving ticket. When he handed me the ticket, he said he would be glad to see me in court. I figured I didn't stand a chance and that the judge would side with him, so I decided to pay the fine.

Additionally, depending on the state you are in, if you are carrying a weapon, you must show identification if a police officer asks for it for any reason. If you refuse to show your ID and they discover that you have a weapon, it could lead to an additional charge.

Just comply dont make it difficult that cop may have just dealt with liberal or a liberal women just previously to dealing with u or i.
Have mercy!! 🙈🙈

Exactly. The cop may not have had you on radar so he knew that wouldn't stand up in court. There's a reason why LE takes a polygraph as part of the hiring process. It's to show that they are "honest" that way if you go to court for erratic driving and it boils down to the cop saying you were weaving and you say your were not the court will always side with the cop because they have been deemed credible by polygraph. As I said if a cop asks you if they can search your car and you say no they will just find some bullshit reason like the officer thought he saw paraphernalia or something that justifies the search. It's a shame that so much power is given to assholes on a power trip.

Again not all cops are bad. There are some really empathetic ones but it's a higher percentage that are on a power trip. Times are changing with body cams now telling a different story but it's going to take a while for real actionable changes,

F**k Cops. Some of the biggest tyrants around. Brainless, dont know the law, etc.
A few good ones around, but its rare... Never let your rights get violated. And if they do, collect a check from the City.
Too bad it comes from tax-payers. Thats why Cops dont care. Get rid of qualified immunity. Basically they can commit crimes against you and not be charged.
