The Gasman Files

Show is done boys

Had an absolute blast out there. Walked on around 162-164. Was a small show, I was the only middleweight and the only other 40+ didn’t show up in shape so I took those 2 in anticlimactic fashion. Second in novice, lost to a junior who was a heavyweight. Kid had a good structure although I think I had the edge in condition but I’m biased so who knows. I was next to the guy who took the overall. The junior was on the other side of the guy who won. Guy who won was the clear winner.

Felt really good coming into the show. Felt much more comfortable on stage. Overall great experience. Can’t wait to do it again in a couple years after hopefully putting on a lot more tissue because that’s what I need.

I took these just before heading out for pre judging. I’ll post some stage shots when I go through them.

Nice work bro, brought your best!
Was there an after show cheat meal?

Here are a few of the official stage shots

Absolutely thrilled with what Kurt and I put together.

Heading into post show recovery and beyond I already know what I need to work on. Back width and legs are my strong suit. Happy with the development and will continue to hit as ai always have. Side shots need a lot of work. Chest is my weakest and always need priority. Arms need to come up so on lower days when I hit biceps they will be done first with some more volume. Triceps will get hit first in one of my upper sessions. Mid back needs more thickness. One of my other upper sessions will be heavy on that. Other upper days more volume to mid back and less for lats.

That’s how I see it. Feel free to add something if I’m missing it.

Amazing! Killed it

Up about 3-4 pounds average from stage weight. We added 20g of fat to calories (50g total). Protein and carbs are the same as the last few weeks heading into show. cut the expenditure back (1.5-2 hours cardio down from 3-3.5 and 10-12k steps from 12-15) and watch what happens. Really looking to nail this part down while I cruise before the next push.

Training was already getting better heading into the show. Not really running a new split but now that food is up a bit I’m going back to 5 days training. U/L/R with a ABC rotation. Based on that frequency, whatever the priority muscle is will get the bulk of volume (6-8 sets). All other parts will get 1-3 sets.

Are you have another show lined up soon or are you just doing a slow reverse?
Slow reverse. The second show I was supposed to do was this last Saturday and I’m glad I bowed out. Tuttle posted one his clients and he was a middleweight who won the show. Guy must be 5’ cuz I don’t know how he got all that muscle on that frame as a middleweight

Ha was about to say. You combined cardio/daily steps together. Makes a little more sense
During prep they were separate although I used the recumbent bike for cardio.

Now, on my cardio days I incline walk and don’t track steps. On non training days I track them to make sure I hit my number. I opted for no tracking on cardio days to give my brain a mental break. Plus I’m probably alread getting 8K in that one hour. Just by accident I would hit my number

3 weeks post show and I’m up about 8 pounds from stage weight and Sitting in a nice spot.

Not sure if I went over the details but to facilitate this, I cut my cardio from 3 hours per week to 1.5-2 hours per week.’cut the steps from 12-15k to 10-12k. Only changes to food were adding 20g of fat for a total of 50g/day. Fats don’t change day to day. Other macros are 180p, 600c on training days and 180p 400c non training days.

Back on a 5 day u/l/r split with an abc rotation and I have been loving it. Each session has a priority muscle and I usually give it 6-8 sets and have it first. Other parts get 1-3 sets. Progressing on that session to session.

Not making any changes after check in, I suspect the weight will hold here for a bit and after bloodwork in a couple weeks I will start to push from there if all looks good.

How does it feel Mataining the leanness for you ?
Pretty easy tbh, yea I could eat more very easily but there is more than enough in place to support training performance. Sleep could be a little better but I don’t know if more food would be the answer there. Either way, this is how I’m gonna roll until it’s time to push so I have a nice long runway
