This behavior is normal or at least unremarkable in Muslim societies. The leadership that is rolling out the red carpet for Muslim migrants is basically stacking the odds of the Reform party taking power in Britain. I’m not sure who you mean by „those people” who should be intolerable. Muslims or leftists?

As for the suggestion to „eradicate,” I used to hope that was hyperbole but the comments made by some folks indicate that this is meant more seriously than I’d hoped.

We can’t „eradicate” either leftists or Muslims and still be a democracy. If we did that, we’d basically become what the leftists and Muslims want to turn us into, except we’d be doing it to ourselves.

I generally agree with the right-leaning folks who consider Islam a grave threat to our society. But I can’t get on board with starting a civil war or violating the right to free speech or religion.

In the same vein, if we really did start eradicating leftists, who do you define as a leftist? According to some on this forum, I am a leftist simply because I consider Trump an incompetent buffoon and don’t think we should start a domestic civil war. But 95% of my views would be considered conservative.

Once you start eradicating „leftists” it becomes really easy for people who disagree with you to label you a „leftist” based on the slightest difference of opinion.

To me, muslims and leftists are intolerable. Leftists are nothing but self sabotaging, and muslims obviously don't agree with the constitution and want to change our way of life to where they came from, which is intolerable and not what America is. I believe in religious freedom also, but not when it means replacing the constitution and local governments.
As far as a civil war with the muslims, i don't think it's that far off. Do you not see what they're doing in this country right now? Are we really going to sit back and let them live by different laws than ours? They're bringing the war to us. They outright say they don't agree with our laws and culture and are here to take over. If we don't stop this now we're ginna look like the UK. Have you seen the rape statistics?

I’m sure there are plenty of decent Muslims in the world. But if you look at their societies in the aggregate, there is clearly something pathological going on.

I recently watched a documentary (mainstream, not some right wing agitprop) about an honor killing. Muslim women were saying it is totally not unusual for them to live in mortal fear of their husbands and fathers. That is not an extreme example of just one honor killing — the honor killing reinforces the norm of total female subjugation.

Not to mention how they treat homosexuals, religious minorities, animals, little boys and virtually every living thing except grown Muslim men. That is virtually across all Muslim societies.

The problem we face is how to limit their migration into this country while still honoring our protection of religious freedom. The way Trump has done it has passed muster with the Supreme Court, and though it is clearly a pretext, it is unfortunately a necessary one.

That is not to say that I think MAGA and Reform in UK are fit to lead in other respects. Trump obviously cares mostly about enriching himself. As for Reform, I suspect they lack much experience in actual governing, but don’t know enough to say.

But unfortunately it may be that the MAGA and Reform movements, and right wing movements across the West, are necessary for the center and left to regain their minds. So far, that doesn’t seem to be the case, based on how many DSA members are winning primaries, though….

There’s a problem in Arab society, the Christians over there are fucking psychotic as well, that’s also why so many of them leave. The most populous Muslim county in the world is Indonesia. The balkans have Muslim dominate countries as well, and they don’t have the same issues as the Arab states and North African Muslim countries. Muslims do, and have done just fine in secular societies.


Arab Christians take part in honor killings, you just don’t hear about it for propaganda reasons.

Come on, are you seriously telling me that Muslim societies are not oppressive? I don’t know much about Indonesia but I would not be surprised if it suffers from the same pathologies as Arab Muslim counties, though perhaps less extreme.
Claiming that Muslim societies are not oppressive basically requires willfully ignoring what is readily apparent.
The surge in rapes in Europe that coincided with a large influx of Muslim migrants is a statistical fact. Anyone with common sense realizes why. But the left in European countries insists on finding alternate explanations that defy common sense. It makes them lose their credibility.

Quite frankly, I really don’t get it. The left is supposedly so committed to equality for women and gays, etc. — yet all that goes out the window when it comes to making excuses for Muslim migrants.

Unless and until the center-left abandons this type of irrationality that it shares with the far-left, right wing movements will continue to gain traction. It’s a no brainer.

I’d personally like to see a return to the type of political equilibrium we had in the Bush-Clinton-Bush era.

All those presidents had flaws, no doubt, but it was a lot better than the current spiral of far right backlash to far left policies, which seems to be inspiring even more extremism on both ends of the spectrum.

I probably sit further left than most here but I actually agree with you. I have some close friends who are Muslim and they are truly wonderful people, but also so much of Muslim culture stands for things the left (and really everyone) aught to find abhorrent, especially the beliefs and actions of the religious extremists within the culture. I refuse to defend anyone who believes women have no rights except those extended to them by their father or husband, and that homosexuality is a crime punishable by death.

In a lot of ways, the attitude that the left, for lack of a better term, has toward Muslims is admirable, to the extent it reflects the Christian precept of loving your fellow man.

But in the end it is just wishful thinking. Not everyone is your friend. Cultures really do clash. Certain ideologies truly are destructive.

I’m sure there were those among native Americans who had this benevolent attitudes toward Europeans arriving on their shores. But it wasn’t ultimately in their best interest.
