I am allergic to plain water. I know. What i mean is, for the better part of 2 decades I put BCAA's in my water. So no calories, etc. I average at least a gallon a day in the winter, and more in the summer.
Looking to change to another form of taste.
What do you guys drink instead of plain water, that is not caffeinated and a bunch of calories?

Lemon and stevia
Ginger
Blend up veggies or even kale (nasty tho)
Dr bergs Electrolytes

There are a bazillion ways to hydrate and plain water ain’t it man, even a pinch of salt

Most of us are bamboozled into thinking we need galllons of water a day, I used to drink water like that all I did was constantly pee, I know every clean gas station bathroom in numerous zip codes lol

My point is too much water kept me in a constant state of hydrate and dehydrate
I felt like Pete and Repeat drink/pee for years man

I started adding other things to my water, I drink less yet I’m sufficiently hydrated and no more waking up 3-4 times a night either

Moreover, my joints feel better as well

can't you take in too many electrolytes though?

Yes
I do my best to stay balanced. Heavy sweat days require heavy hydration a full scoop of electrolytes after and then a little the next morning as well.

Light sweat days, hydrate accordingly, I use less or even skip that day of electrolytes

Most of what I listed is answer for your question to give plain water some taste

You will find your sweet spot, it’s not hard, theres a broad margin for error. Plain water messed me up over a long time,

Electrolytes help your body use water more efficiently and you’ll need less. Unless you are using a fair amount of orals you don’t need to exceed that gallon benchmark, it’s just to help flush toxins you’re adding. And honestly a large surplus of water does strip minerals and electrolytes. I don’t think (within reason) you can have too many.
I drink around a gallon and get it down with a sugar free drink mix and a pinch of Baja Gold sea salt. It is has all essential minerals and electrolytes you need in a day.

diet soda and water with splenda, sometimes ill pour a little sugar free/zero cal coffee syrup into the water.
propels is another one i drink occasionally but they are kinda pricey.

Who would of thought you picked the most simplest thing 😂 I'm still white trash I use tap water I know not healthy but one step at a time
I got hard water at the house so no drinking it... I mean you can, it passed the testing but still... I've drank out of many rusty garden hoses in my life so I'm sure I got some forever chemicals in my body!

Water and coffee, thats all I drink.
Occasionally i add sugar free lemonade or grape, little single ser packs. Some have electrolytes or caffeine.

While I tend to generally agree, that’s too broad a brush. Some guys have super labor intensive jobs and sweat in the humidity of the Deep South all day everyday. Soaked to their undies for 12+ hours a day. I’m that way several months a year although not for nearly 12 hours.

My point is that there’s several different types of lifestyles to consider when suggesting hydration amounts. I’m old and been at it a while. I’ve found I need a gallon of water with overdosed electrolytes and then a gallon of spring water to keep me balanced when I’m sweating my clothes soaked 8 hours a day and laboring in the sun. That’s hard ass labor and the fluids are coming out of you just as fast as you can replenish them.

Some people say water is enough and granted when you're talking about the gym... but when you’re heading into a 12-mile forced march in full battle rattle, no matter the conditions, Gatorade or Pedialyte quickly become your best friends… right up there with your weapon, a clean pair of socks, and your boots.

Go to any of the convenient stores, gas stations around FT. Bragg and Camp Lejeune and there filled with fridges of Pedialyte, especially during the summer (the Pedialyte mob )
The same goes for BJJ/MMA classes and rolling sessions. They’re so physically demanding that I pretty much need those same hydration options just to keep up and recover.

Plus I fucking hate drinking plain water.

I tried the cherry obituary liquid death the other day. Shit is expensive but awesome. Very small amount of sugar in it and 10 calories.

I used a broad brush stroke for generalized use. The OP didn’t mention extreme sweating like you described. Obviously you adjust your intake for specific needs, hence my orals comment.
Another angle on this is that when you do sweat profusely your body switches a good bit of water allocation from elimination through the kidneys to your skin. Your urine will inherently darken during periods of increased cooling.

I’ve worked like you described for years. You’re 100% spot on.

1-1 1/2 cups of coffee
Pre workout. Whatever I have at the time
30oz bottle of watermelon-lime relyte throughout the day. Daily
Plain old filtered water. Daily
On occasion I’ll have a blood orange zevia iced tea. Weekly
