home gym (air quality maxing)

hopefully i'll build up to all that one day. going piece by piece
Oh you will… It kind of becomes addicting after awhile. I started back in the early 2000’s and have cycled through numerous pieces.. I’m constantly getting attachments and various stuff for my space. I just wish I had more room!!!!!!!! I also will fabricate my own pieces to save a buck. Course imma bit of a tight ass.

that’s a clean set up. Thought of investing in a hanging plant maybe basil or rosemary? Great for marinating on the fly 😮

ive got a couple pothos that are a few feet long at this point i could hang up there. i might just start pinning it to the window frame and let it wrap around the edges of it

Started my home gym in 1978... There's nothing like it (training in solitude). especially these days.
Broccoli heads, filmers, flexers, posers, etc... (And those are just the folks w/ zero muscle).

I always used both (home & commercial) but I cant stomach commercial gyms anymore...

investing in iron like it's gold 😯

@Cage99 Is that a press/hack combo?
It is but that piece has been upgraded. That was an old 1997 hack/press combo from the 90’s. The new one is Bodycraft F760 Pro; smaller footprint with linear ball bearings. Much smoother operation, but it lacks safeties. Not a big deal because I retrofitted it myself to add safety stops. This new one is also a hack/press combo along with a donkey seat for press and calf raises.

Wow impressive, we built something similar although not that nice when covid shut down the gyms; the wife never went back to commercial. I just had to go back, always liked commercial better,

I'm really wanting to get stuff for legs, but if im gunna hit legs at home then im gunna have to get something for calves. i only believe in straight leg calf work, so the cheapest possible option would be to get a leg press. so to hit legs i'd need a leg ext/curl combo for 200-250ish, then a 500+ leg press. itd double my gym cost. maybe towards the end of next year

Equipment
Rogue Rack - Using this less and less. Want to replace with something like a Fringe Dane 2.0
Incline/Flat Bench
Preacher Curl
Chest Press (hard to see on right). Flat & Incline
Pendulum Squat
Leg Extension & Leg Curl
Single Cable Tower - When I upgrade to Dane 2.0 want to replace this and use the space for a Chest Support Row of some variation

a $500 leg press might be tough.

This is $850. It's not a nice or heavy duty as an Arsenal Pendulum Squat, but it's pretty damn solid.

This isn't too bad. I had to get a replacement sheet b/c it broke, but they sent me a free one. Going really heavy on leg ext is a limitation a bit.

ive actually heard pretty good things about some of these walmart ones

If you have enough land and own it you should invest in a large shed (wood or metal) for your home gym and you'll have a lot of room for your gear and even invite your friends over for training sessions!

I was looking at buying the Pendulum one from GMWD. Basically replacing the one I have in the corner from Titan fitness. This one from GMWD has a similar footprint and I believe it’d be better piece altogether. Still on the fence though.

Don’t cheap out on a leg press! A lot of the cheap ones aren’t smooth at all and you’ll regret saving a few bucks.

That’s my goal. However, I’m in suburbia hell currently and utilizing my 2 car garage as my sanctuary. Once my chitlins are out of the house I plan on moving to the country. The wife can pick whatever home she wants. I just want enough land for two 30x30 or 30x40 buildings, one for my gym and one for my metal/wood shop! Hell, we can just add an upstairs area to the gym and live up top. I seriously doubt the wifey would be down for that….

Also check the quality of the welds as going heavy and thing breaks you risk serious injury.

a pendulum squat would be way better than a leg press, but i actually care more about my calves than my quads 💀 and i need a leg press for those

that might be the move. i gotta make sure i can afford enough plates to make it work too though
yea search around for youtube reviews on them, they are surprisingly decent, temu and aliexpress have them as well.

a friend of mine bought a full cage from walmart/aliexpress and it looked and felt really really solid.

i know people knock on chinese shit, but i mean everything is from china as we know. its good stuff just not with the GOLD GYM label or whatever.

i could attach heavy weight on my weight belt and just do calves standing on a support of my machines. thatd be good enough for the mean time because i could do straight leg and avoid having the weight on my spine

I do calve raises on (straight leg) on my pendulum squat.

This is the one reason I went Pendulum squat vs Hack/Leg Press. I don't need to load up a ton of plates b/c it's much more harder at lower weight.

i will definitely consider this when the time comes then. never used a pendulum squat before though. so far the only leg compound machine i like is belt squat
