I feel so sick and this isn’t a joke had no choice I’m going to have nightmares.
Doing some exterior work on a 3 million dollar home and a part of the soffit was loose on the second story. The home owners were complaint about birds living in the attic making noises and being obnoxious. We put some ladders up to check it out and saw the mother bird fly out, you could hear the baby birds chirping in the lower end of the soffit that wasn’t accessible from the attic crawl space. I spent 2 hours trying to get the nest out but it was 12 feet away from our opening and legitimately could do nothing at that point. My boss told me to put some exterior screws in and seal it off.
At first I couldn’t do it, I asked if I could just multi tool a little square out of the area where I could hear them and was told no. I kept pushing back as long as I could and my project manager and I HAD a good relationship before this. Aparantly they were billing the customer 7gs and wanted to be in and out, I said I’d personally pay for some extra material if I can cut out the square and get the nest out. I was told if I don’t put the screws in don’t come to work tomorrow it’s over.
After I put the screws in about 5 minutes later the mom bird came back and was chirping gently by the now closed off area. If I’m being real I almost cried. This is going to haunt me for a long time. The boss was saying it’s just some fuckin birds chill dude and I got real loud with him. Probably going to need a new job.
