Issues with Motivation

I think that’s pretty for anyone who has ever done anything for a long period of time. This hobby or lifestyle is all about longevity, finds ways to change it to, incorporate boxing, higher and lower intensity, full body etc. like Nemo said, just keep swimming my friend.

Along the lines of discipline, one of my favorite quotes is from Mike Tyson. “Discipline is doing what you hate to do, but doing it like you love it”.

If your looking for a good read pick up his book Iron Ambition, my life with Cus D’Amato.

Fuck motivation, it's all about building a long term sustainable habit just like brushing your teeth.
Once you build and constantly reinforce the habit it doesn't really feel like a chore, it's just something you do. Getting started imo is always the hardest.

+1 to what @JackedCarpenter33 said, you should buy the book "Can't hurt me", it will really change your perspective.

Life is chalked full of obstacles..bad days..hard choices and so on..
It's unavoidable..
Learning how to Navigate and Cope,in positive ways is the smart choice..

I've seen both..
People who crumble and people who Stand and face the Challenges Head On..

I wake everyday usually from pain..I could stay in bed and whine and bitch..
OR
Get up..put my big boy pants on and get some sun on my face..and find the Good in everyday..

If you want something bad enough..you can Always find a way..
It just depends on how much you want it..

I have always been small..small bone structure, bad genetics and no positive upbringing..
At 31,at 125lbs..I'd had enough..!!

Around 11 yrs ago I got some bad news..and not much good news since..
Should have been gone a long, long time ago..

Here's last April last yr..
Was 57 then, 191lbs and battling two C's..
Lost everything I gained by June, down to 145lbs...
Just started back in the gym Saturday..
I Will break the 200lb mark this Time..!!

If an Average Joe like me can..almost everyone Can..

Training has been my lifelong obsession, and I would be lying if I said there hasn’t been phases of my life where it was like pulling teeth to get a session in daily. The thing that kept me going was the looming regret of letting those days pass without any progress.

Being a successful man is all about consistency. Show up more than the next guy and some day you will leave them in the dust.

Almost every post above already nailed it.

I hate the word as it requires zero effort, planning or commitment.

The discipline and consistency of doing something over and over regardless of what obstacles arise whether you’re “motivated” or not. Don’t tell me you’re motivated. Go show me. No excuses, no explanations.

Unfortunately most people can’t apply this to anything in life no less working out or reaching a fitness goal.

That’s why I alway recommend someone who loves to lift to go through at least 1 contest prep. It will force you to do the above and come out better for it.

Dude with all the adversity you’ve been dealing with it’s truly inspirational to see your pic. You are a stud. I think about you often and am always wishing you nothing but good

Does any one else have issues with consistanty and finding the motivation to actually keep going?
That’s just life and it will never change. Everything in the world moves in a cycle. Including our motivation and determination. I learned to stop beating myself up when I’m not at my best. Hopefully that helps somehow.

Damn Bro i really appreciate the incite unlike you i have always been the fat kid im definetly my own worst enemy when it comes to results.

For the most part no. I am doing what i want and working towards what i want at least when i was in my growing decades. Now that i am just trying to put off old age it is more challenging to get satisfaction from my workouts. I may have to change routines of gyms to keep a higher degree of interest. But i never wished i wasn't at the gym. At the worst i approached it like work and just didn't think about if i wanted to train or not. I just did it as i wanted the end result. Really haven't missed a day since the 80's. I have rescheduled the occasional workout but take a few days or week off no. Other then a week after a surgery or a vacation. Been at it since about 1973 at one thing or another. I have had most things pop up other then terminal illness. But my workouts are my me time and release time and where i find peace.

It’s easy if your a weak loser.

JK, you gotta just push through and force yourself. You’ll appreciate it after.

There's probably 1000 ways to motivate yourself..you have to find what works best for You...
Most times it's usually something simple..
