“Shaming”. These fucking new world terms. Man, it really “triggers” me.
The whole human existence is observing and judging simultaneously since the dawn of time. Accepting people the way they are is the reason for mediocrity today. Accept people for who they are, ok. But accepting things that can be changed, that’s just supporting laziness.
But as for the belly thing, some of it is laziness, some of it is part of aging, some lies in between.
When you hit 40, that visceral fat situation increases. There are metabolic reasons for it. Organs shrink, more fat is required to cushion them. That’s just one reason. I am sure there are many.
I know I didn’t have this issue in my early years but now, even when I am externally peeled before a show, my visceral fat/gut is the last thing to go. Sometimes only in the last two weeks or so.
Some guys have guts because they just say “fuck it” and think that’s just the way you look over 40. Look at women, same thing. If a beer gut doesn’t look good on a 50 year old man, it sure doesn’t look good on a 40 year old woman. But most people seem to think “that’s just the way it is” and don’t do anything about it.
I have people every day make some comment to me about how they “need to get in shape”. I ask them what that means because they already are “a shape”. They need to decide what they want and make a plan to get there.
@AR-15 those people in the gym with guts are taking the first step to be healthy or in shape, they just have completed enough of the puzzle that they are satisfied with.
My gut gets out of control from time to time. It gets harder every day to keep it down. I can have veins across my abs and you can’t “pinch an inch” but my gut still protrudes. It isn’t “GH gut”, an inflamed liver or poor core control. It’s just another part of the aging process. Some people do a good job of fighting it off, especially if they start early. It’s pretty hard to do for someone who only gets in the gym in their 40s, long after letting it get out of control.
