Anyone here work in the automotive industry?

I work in a factory that mostly deals with Ford and Toyota. I can't speak directly about sales but I can tell you our production numbers are thru the roof and are going to stay that way for the most part for the next couple months. So I would say they are not down based on that but just because they're building tons of new vehicles doesn't mean they are selling necessarily. The departments I work in build inverters

You probably know more than these youtubers. I figured they were full of shit, just wondering. I know steel production is ramped up.

Are sales really down as bad as everyone is saying?
100% yes.. Especially Stallantis (Chrysler-Jeep) One of my clients is a car sales man and he didnt make shit this year compared to last year. Way too many recalls.
Brand new $50-110k Jeep Wranglers are having issues with the door hinges and the bottoms of the doors to rust after 1 winter season.

Still can’t believe how much fucking Jeeps cost 😆.. with the price of everything I can’t imagine it changing any time soon, but who knows.

Its stupid. I was looking at a new Ram 2500 plow truck and happened to look at a 2024 Jeep wrangler that had the 6.2 Hemi....90k
The plow truck was WAY less money than that Jeep!
Now, who has the money to take a 90k jeep off roading? :ROFLMAO:

That’s what I’m saying! It’s fucking ridiculous, I thought they were over priced when they hit 50k for a wrangler that’s looked the same for the last 40years. Atleast you can make money with the truck but still, most guys buy trucks just to go to Home Depot

look at all the shit that comes standard now, My dads truck had a bench seat and a radio, the windows were hand crank, now everything powered and digital with touchscreens and airbags, heated seats gps, all that shit cost lots of money, cheaper to by a classic car and restore it

problem is, most of it is regulated. Cameras, ADAS, airbags, blah blah blah,. Now they're looking at requiring alcohol detectors for the driver.
Years ago i was talking to a buddy, who was design director for a multi-billion dollar manufacturer, about the size of trucks these days. He said they do market surveys and the people wanted bigger trucks, bigger interiors. I have an NBS Silverado and driving that vs my new Silverado is night and day. Can't even see over the hood. Significantly bigger. I guess people want the gadgets.
I gotta admit, heads up display is kinda cool.

I had a 98 silverado with a 6 inch lift and parked it next to my new 2014 and told my wife look how this shit is all stock now thats why trucks cost more. lift kits used to be about $1200 but if you look at a truck on the lot with a lift factory installed its like $15000, fugn crazy

I own a repair shop, and can say all of the newer Chrysler/Stelantis/FCA vehicles are garbage. GM is a close second. I've always been a GM and Toyota guy so its hard for me to say GM is 💩 these days. I work on everything and I see very few Toyotas needing major repair.

You don't need to be in the industry as all companies' sales are public on a monthly basis. Just need to know where to look.
