WANT TO BLOCK SOME DHT FOR YOUR HAIR!? All-Natural?
Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is the most common cause of hair loss in men and affects up to 70% of men in later life and especially those aged over 50 years. Topical minoxidil and oral finasteride have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of AGA, but only about 30% of patients persist with medication over a year in private practice. Oral finasteride was found to decrease libido and ejaculate volume or cause erectile dysfunction, whereas topical minoxidil can cause scaling and itching of the scalp. Due to these adverse effects, patients seem to be drawn to alternative treatments with fewer side effects.
- •Some products, such as green tea and saw palmetto, have demonstrated therapeutic potential for the treatment of AGA and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) via the inhibition of 5α-reductase activity. Pumpkin seed oil (PSO) has also been reported to be an effective treatment for symptomatic BPH.
- This double-blinded study did involve 76 subjects using just:
>PUMPKIN SEED OIL 400mg daily was used in trials and 95% of the patients/subjects noticed considerable change in lessening hair loss & thinning. Based on blinded investigator assessments, treatment with (PSO)400mg was superior to treatment with placebo with respect to hair growth at 12 and 24 weeks.
•There were statistically significant differences in hair count changes during 24 weeks in the intervention group and the control group.
•Hair changes, that is, hair counts and hair diameters, were measured by phototrichography at baseline and at 12 and 24 weeks.
•No changes in liver enzyme or creatinine were observed in the intervention group. Serum-free testosterone levels were unchanged in both groups.
So,
1. 400mg Pumpkin Seed Oil P.O. daily ,
2. Cuscuta reflexa*(a parasitic perennial herb in Himilayas) exhibited hair growth promotion via 5α-reductase inhibitory effect and this herbal extract was highlighted as a potential treatment for hair loss.
3. Soymetide-4 was one of the herbal product-suppressing alopecia.
4. ginseng (Panax ginseng) was also used for scalp treatment limiting hair loss with anti-inflammatory and blood circulation effect.
5. Serenoa repens at 320 mg every day for 24 months showed increased hair growth. The authors concluded that it could be used as an alternative treatment for mild to moderate AGA and that it is more effective than finasteride in this respect.
Now, they said this study was bullshit, but after reviewing again. The did conclude that PSO, was effective. Pumpkin seed oil is rich in micronutrients – like zinc and manganese – and tocopherols (vitamin E), phytosterols (plant sterols), unsaturated fatty acids(linoleic acid). And through these constituents, pumpkin seed oil may help improve pattern hair loss through several mechanisms:
1. Lowering androgen activity (reducing DHT)
2. Reducing inflammation
3. Decreasing atherosclerosis in blood vessels
4. Repleting trace elements necessary for hair growth
5. Also showed marked anti inflammatory benefits
Max’s Thoughts /Plan :
I use Virgin Coconut Oil and Lemon on my scalp, Just the Virgin Coconut and Olive Oil on my skin also. I am going to add Pumpkin Seed Oil to my Scalp Care and take the PSO, 400-600mg by mouth. I have had dermatitis/dandruff issues, hence why I was prescribed 2% ketoconazole shampoo(also shown to help with hair loss, even growth.
I am also researching GHK-cu Copper Peptide for its “amazing claims” on hair & skin, not to mention all the bodybuilding benefits(we shall see).
