Umm... I dunno about them logging Trump..
The buying votes part is how politics works.
Trump catered to those cookey conservatives for votes.
Who cares.. The military got a raise.
Good.

It’s a disgrace that this even turned political. Just be happy that the Military “might” get a raise. They always propose more and it usually gets lowered, unfortunately it’s the name of the game. If we can all be respectful of one thing, it should be the military.

My base pay would be $4,616 based on rank and time I retired in 2011. I made $595/month when I joined in 1983.
I still wish life was more like 1983.
It is really hard for anyone under 50 to imagine how fucked up the military has become in only a couple of decades. The whole country even more so.

One thing we are all missing here is this is part of Biden’s budget and it’s been deemed DOA in congress.
I hope that whatever “IS” passed as a budget still has this in it. Unfortunately all the fighting will steal the light and our armed forces will settle for substantial less.
I remember what it was like being flat broke in the military. I served 81-85 and my first paycheck out of boot camp was $125. I had a kid and one on the way when I was at my first permanent duty. I got base housing because of the family and a food subsistence of $300 or so a month. When I separated in 85 my take home was just north of $900 a month.
You could double the current military salary today and our service members would still struggle.

The 2023 pay raise — which went into effect just over two months ago — was 4.6%. Combined with the 2024 proposal, troops would see almost a 10% increase in take home pay over a two-year stretch. The raise is based on the federal Employment Cost Index, which tracks wages and salaries of private sector workers annually.2 days ago

its still not enough, and my biggest gripe is some dude can hand out basketballs at the gym for 8 hours a day while I'm working more than 12hours a day pulling engines from f16s and we make the same pay. plus since people in positions like that can sit and study all day they can pass the promotion tests easier while I'm having to constantly study for different aircraft system tests and new service bulletins I dont have any time left for promotion studying

Get Shredded!
The military, law enforcement, fire fighters and Medics should all get paid better. If you have never done one of these jobs you can never fully understand. I work 13 years as a paramedic. Had more skill the most of the nurses working in the same hospital as me but they made $15 and hour more then me. I got paid minimum wage as a reserve officer. Military was years ago but my monthly take home was less than $1000/month

The one year I was an EMT was probably the worst year of my life. Loved going through the school then the next thing I know I’m seeing the worst things a human should never see. Thank you for what you’ve done!

Increasing the pay won’t keep people in the military. I bet if you looked at retention thirty years ago compared to today, it would be the same. Today’s pay, living conditions, benefits, everything is better than back then.
No one stays for the pay. If you can embrace the suck, you’ll learn a way to stay in. If you are a lazy fucker who finds ways for other people to do your work for you, you’ll stay in because you get paid and promoted no matter how big a turd you are. Going civilian just looks like more works to you.
If you are like most, you do one hitch or two, feel good about your service but think it’s just time to move on.
I didn’t stay for the pay, it was something about the experience an camaraderie that kept me re-upping.

They have thrown pay, better living, better working conditions, everything at these guys over the last two decades. Some stay in, some get out. That’s the way it always has been.

VA disability already went up in January 8.9 percent. It was a nice little increase.

Really? Are you dumb? He did more for the military than any other sitting president!

Starting with the VA! The biggest failure to our vets!

The democrats tried to kill them all by forcing the b.s. vaccine!

I am a Vet, don't bark up the wrong tree brother. I will bite my tongue on most issues I don't see eye to eye with you on but you are speaking about an issue you know nothing about except for what the mainstream media told you. Until you have walked in those boots your opinion holds no credibility. With all due respect.

I love this.
But you still don't want to pay taxes and letting multinational companies get away without taxes.

How are you proposing to finance the pay increase?

Don't get me wrong , I agree that workers needs the pay rise including the USA army.

Do your research about countries that use the tax system to fight inflation and balance the books.

You'll be surprised.
