Donate at a local blood drive that's what most do I've been donating for a year now and they hound me for my blood every other month lolAs in just donate some blood? I use the VA so asking them for anything is like asking for an act of god especially when doing something i am not supposed to be doing
They have been blowing my phone up today actually to go donate lol. I’ll probably go do it in a few days just to do it.Donate at a local blood drive that's what most do I've been donating for a year now and they hound me for my blood every other month lol

Lol might as wellLooks like everyone is going Saturday lol that was my plan as well.
You're better off forgetting about using the VA for these types of needs. You'll wait months for an appointment and be asked too many nosey questions (as I'm sure you're aware). Blood donation with local donation sites and testing with private labs is the easiest, fastest, and most private way to go.As in just donate some blood? Do you normally donate blood etc? As in have you done it before and when was the last time you did?I had bloodwork done at the end of my cycle and then about 3 weeks into my trt dosage "cruise". My platelet count both times were 429 which is high. Any ideas why this is high but all other cbc numbers were normal? I am worried I may be at risk for clot
Low iron levels can cause platelets to be high. Blood test will show if this is the case but you eat a lot of red meat it is very unlikely you have low iron since you haven't donated before. No I haven't donated blood in years. This is my first cycle in years. I did labs at the end to see how things were going and seen my platelets were high
No they do a finger prick to check your hemocrit to make sure it’s not over 20. Then after you donate they send it to a lab where they test it for AIDS and hepatitis and stuff. If you have some nasty shit you can’t donate. If it’s all good they use it. If not you are banned from donating again. You can donate every 59 days or something. I usually do it like 2 to 3 times a year.I’ve never donated. Do they do blood work?
They might do something more than hemoglobin finger prick if you donate platelets.I’ve never donated. Do they do blood work?
Give me them shoulders!!! LolThey might do something more than hemoglobin finger prick if you donate platelets.
I told them I have sleep apnea so I don’t my hemocrit to get too high.I told them I was on TRT and my doctor said it would be a good idea to donate. This eliminated any further questions bc they can't ask anymore bc it would be a HIPAA violation for them to ask about my medical treatment. It's a lie but so is answering all the questions on the form they make you feel out so either way you have to lie. The trt option is the path of least resistance.
I'm helping someone as well bc I do not have a single thing in my blood that will show up on their lab screening and they are desperate for blood. There are shortages all the time. If my wife or kid needs blood in a hospital to save their life I like to think that it's going to be there if they needed it.
Smart...I told them I have sleep apnea so I don’t my hemocrit to get too high.
Holy crap. I didn't realize sleep apnea effected hemoglobin etc. It makes sense though. Good thinking! I'm always down to learn something new!I told them I have sleep apnea so I don’t my hemocrit to get too high.
Yeah honestly a lot of people have it because of undiagnosed sleep apnea then gear. If you have both it’s gonna be elevated regularlyHoly crap. I didn't realize sleep apnea effected hemoglobin etc. It makes sense though. Good thinking! I'm always down to learn something new!
