Get Shredded!
Hello,
Thought I'd introduce myself. 55 years old. Trying to regain some fitness/health but things are just not progressing like they used to. Glucose disposal and body comp are not improving even though I'm very consistently working out and fairly low carb.
I've been reading a fair bit and I'm waiting on blood results now. I'll decide what to do when I get the results but even if T comes back normal for my age it is probably pretty low and sub optimal. About 17 years ago my Total/Free T was 660/16 so I'm not too hopeful of anything decent coming back from these tests. It might be time to pull the trigger on TRT.
Anyone in my age range tried the HCG route before Testosterone replacement? It seems this route might be more suitable for someone with low FSH, LH and T but not someone with high/normal FSH, and LH but low T. As I said, I'll wait on test results before deciding but just wondering about this one.

Lots of good information here. I appreciate the TRT-specific forum.

Thanks!
Another question. I've ordered the following tests for baseline. Anything I'm missing? (maybe thyroid?)
Total/Free T
LH/FSH
SHBG
PSA
IGF-1
DHT
DHEA
Estradiol
CBC/CMP
CRP
Hba1c
Lipid panel

HCG releases a lot of estrogen and progesterone along with testosterone. It’s not the route to go. You’ll probably get sore, puffy nipples. Go with testosterone. It doesn’t take much to feel a lot better.

Welcome! It seems like everyone that tried the hcg route is like “well, that kinda sucked”, then hops on trt. 🤷

I tried the hcg route, it did increase my t a lot but then I was stuck managing estrogen amongst the puffy nipples etc. You’re still poking yourself and honestly it’s far less complicated to just do trt. I also am unsure what the long term effects of extended hcg use is and what it’s like coming off. Welcome to the forum!
