Parents want to be friends with the kids, not parents, being a parent is tough work, being a friend is easy.
Yeah the dad should let the child continue to disrespect the mother and grow up to be another statistic. How progressive of you…Yeah....not really. Kids like 7 and he's in his face like he's about ready to throw down in a menacing posture?
Definitely excessive but I don't know that Dad's story. Fear might get instant respect but it also breeds contempt.

Thats not what I'm saying. I'm saying threatening violence on a child isn't fatherlikeYeah the dad should let the child continue to disrespect the mother and grow up to be another statistic. How progressive of you…
ZingHow do you know he’s the dad? It might just be the mom’s latest soon-to-be baby daddy?
He didn’t threaten violence. That kid was disobeying and cussing out his mom, as a parent you can’t let that slide. He gave that kid exactly what he needed without laying a finger on him.Thats not what I'm saying. I'm saying threatening violence on a child isn't fatherlike

You can do that without lurking over him waving your hands around. He didn’t threaten violence. That kid was disobeying and cussing out his mom, as a parent you can’t let that slide. He gave that kid exactly what he needed without laying a finger on him.
I agree, I’m not sure how I’d do now a days with all the things kids see and learn, it’s got to be be harder now, everyone just stares at there phones anymore.I don't know where some of these kids learn this stuff. Gotta be TV or school. I am not a parent....my wife and I could not conceive....but in today's world its gotta be so hard to raise a child right. If I were that father I would have handled it differently but I know sometimes you need to be harsh with kids but again I never had a chance to be a dad.
But will it have the same effect? Maybe for some but others will need more. You can do that without lurking over him waving your hands around.

I mean I did struggle with the age thing at first but then I thought of how kids and young adults have changed so much over the last few decades. It’s like their parents praise them for being assholes. “Jamal it’s not nice to call your mother a dirty whore”. “Now go stand in the corner for a two minute time out”. Yeah that works…..Yeah the dad should let the child continue to disrespect the mother and grow up to be another statistic. How progressive of you…

Got kids? But will it have the same effect? Maybe for some but others will need more.
It is very hard. You also have to accept the fact that you can’t shield them from everything, nor should you. You need to teach them to do the right thing even when there might be wrong all around them.I don't know where some of these kids learn this stuff. Gotta be TV or school. So you'd do this? And on top of it, let the mother film it, then upload it to YouTube?Yes.
Yes, I’ve had to get stern like that before. I don’t physically discipline but some situations require a more harsh approach. So you'd do this? And on top of it, let the mother film it, then upload it to YouTube?
I see parenting skills very insufficient all over that video

I just wouldn't hulk over my kid like that, nor would I upload it to social media. In fact, my wife would be on my ass for acting that way towards our childrenYes, I’ve had to get stern like that before. I don’t physically discipline but some situations require a more harsh approach.
And no we don’t record these things.
A responsible and mature father knows how to calm their kid down with eye contact and tone.I just wouldn't hulk over my kid like that, nor would I upload it to social media. In fact, my wife would be on my ass for acting that way towards our children

You and I were typing this at the same time. Same thoughts.A responsible and mature father knows how to calm their kid down with eye contact and tone.
An immature father uses brutality and harshness.
Look at most people nowadays … obvious their father was abusive or they lacked a father
Freaking spot on. I have so many friendsMy father never beat me, but I knew he would, so I behaved. It was in his tone and posture. Decades later, I spoke about this with him when I became a parent of teenagers that were allowed to run a bit too free for my taste before I came into the picture.
He said he never hit me because it wouldn’t do any good. He said when he would spank me as a small child, I wouldn’t cry. I would just “well up in tears” and give him an evil “fuck you” stare.
He fought my brothers many times.
A kid doesn’t get to telling his mother to fuck off overnight. That level of disrespect builds over time to get to that level.
My kids probably were freaked out because I never yelled at them or even really raised my voice. I spoke to them in an assertive manner and perhaps my posture commanded respect?
I know in the military, my sailors knew when they were about to go over the precipice of my tolerance to insubordination. Again, never raised my voice never got into any sort of screaming arguments.
Command and leadership posture.

The word “fuck” and all of it’s iterations is/are possibly the most versatile word in the world of any language. It punctuates anything you are speaking about.I usually stare them in the eye and talk sternly. If they hear a curse word, they know its serious. I do say "do you want a pow pow?" but the answer is always no

I always laugh where people say men who curse are ignorant, uneducated or common. I think the ignorance is anyone who deletes a word from their lexicon/vocabulary simply because someone finds it offensive.

Its like when Adrian Peterson got in trouble for taking a switch to his kid. I wouldn't do it to my kid but I can remember going out and having to pick a good one to get whipped with. So I undestood it....lolI think maybe we just "don't understand their culture"?
