Just seen Metallica again at the VT campus.. damn when they played enter sandman if someone could bottle that energy up!! They still perform just as good as they did 23 years ago when I first seen them

Was my favorite band growing up. Started playing guitar at 5 years old and when Kill Em All came out went full Hetfield. Saw them about 25 times all the way through the Justice Tour. Saw them a couple times post Black album. Absolutely terrible. :(

I talk a lot of shit about them bcus of the napster thing but old Metallica is the one music i listen to every single day of my life. At least a few songs. I like blackened, master and battery.

Also james can beat the dogshit out of that explorer while simultaneously belting out clean crisp clear vocals. He deserves his respect.

Their shows now seem pretty sterile. Not like pre black album days. When I want to see some good old school thrash I'll hit a testament, exodus or death angel show. They still bring those vibes to their shows.

Everyone likes who they like.. I’ve seen a lot of bands over my life.. ozzy.. Motley Crue.. AC/DC.. pantera.. just a few of the bigger ones than in my opinion don’t compare .. I don’t get into the hard core stuff.. it’s just noise… but I got to take my kids to this one and loved every minute.. enter sandman is VT football entry song and when they played it the place just exploded.. it registered on the Richter scale a mile away.. I’m glad my kids got to experience that.

Makes my old ass feel a little better to hear that the new generation will still throw down for enter sandman. Im so old that enter sandman is "new metallica" lmao but thats still awesome to hear. Those kids sound cool.

They weren't 60 when putting out the Black Album and everything else since. :)

Hold on, now I’m confused 😆😉

They've earned the right to make whatever music they desire but shouldn't get butt hurt when people think their shit sucks... Hardwired is their last good song I've heard... From that album and the new album... I miss the old days especially And justice for all... My favorite metal album of all time..

Grew up With Kill em all 1st cassette.....Seen them a zillion times in concert.
Stood in line for 4 hours for the Black album. 🖕
I agree 100% Their last great album was Justice.
Black and all the others that came after..... Just plain crap.

True fan!

I have their original cassette 1982 demo "No Life 'Til Leather." lol I was all in.

A guy on my ship who was a guitar player, gave me the cassette for "Ride the Lightning". He said "You might like this. It is way too hard for me." I immediately dug it. Went to see them in 1985 at Donnington Monsters of Rock (now Download Festival) and they were insanely good.
I saw them a year later at UNO Arena when they were supporting Ozzie (Jake E. Lee!) with the Puppets album. 1986.
Saw them on the "Justice" tour at LA Coliseum. That was a crazy show. They blew the sound system and they just sat in the stands while they fixed it. Took like 30 minutes. They came out with "Creeping Death" and the whole place EXPLODED! Still one of my favorite songs.

I saw them a few years later on the Black album and it was complete suck comparatively. To their credit, it was probably great to all the new fans but it was hard to top those few time I already saw them.

My buddy is the LD for Pantera (always has been) and I can just call him to see one of the shows if the are close but I really don't care to bother anymore.
When I saw Black Sabbath in San Jose on one of their "final tours" and Pantera was supporting them, Hetfield and Lars sat next to me at the front of the house during Sabbath. THey were going nuts during the Sabbath set. True fans.

Pantera was the second act.. suicidal tendencies was the opening act.. the didn’t do much for me.. I seen pantera also many years ago.. it’s obvious they and myself have aged lol

First concert of mine- Wembley stadium in London 2007- I was 11-12? My dad travelled a lot for his company and took my brother and I along for the ride. I remember coming back to the states waiting to tell my friends all about it. Great times! I’m one of those pre black album type of people. Can’t stand them anymore- grateful for the gateway that was opened to me though
