Nice Barret!! Is that model 95? Unfortunately my lioberal state has made it illegal to own a 50BMG caliber rifle unless it is a single shot bolt action like the model 99 that I had. What scope do you have on that?

A buddy and I brought my Barrett rifle and this manhole cover to the only public range I know of on the east coast where you can shoot more than just paper targets, (Knob Creek range in Kentucky). Every shot made a hole in this thing, and I didn't even have to use armor piercing rounds either. This was done with run of the mill military ball ammo, with 647gr bullet heads. This was no miniature sized manhole cover. It weighed a good 150 lbs and the 50BMG rifle blew the big webbing right off the back of the cover. We also bought a junk car from the junkyard down the street for $100, and they delivered it for us to the range so we can shoot it up, and then took it away when we were done.

Hmmm.... I cannot say that I know who you're talking about. I guess I haven't seen his vids. The car the junkyard sold us was placed 130 yards down range sideways with the driver's side door facing us. I enjoyed shooting the driver's side door, and during the seize fire period, seeing that the rounds that I put through the door not only when clear through the door skin as well as the door panel, but also went through the passenger door panel and clear through the skin of that door too. I also put holes in the engine block, and I was surprised to see that the junkyard hadn't even drained the coolant because there was a puddle of it left on the ground after I put holes in the block.

The Knob Creek gun range also has semi-annual machine gun rental shoots, where they also rent flame throwers, and have junk cars set up with sticks of dynamite attached. Now that's what I call a shooting range. Sometimes I get bored shooting paper targets. Unfortunately I had to drive 13 hours to visit that range, ( I stayed over a buddy's house nearby for the weekend) so I won't be doing that too often.

Yep, I really do miss shooting that cannon. Whatever range I would go to, and no matter how many other guys with various rifles there happen to be there, as soon as I would begin firing it, most of them would stop shooting, put their rifles down, and walk over to where I was to watch, simply because of the noise that thing made. It was a trip.

Sometimes I would offer to let someone else shoot it out of the small crowd there was that stood there watching me. Most guys were afraid to take me up on that offer, (including my brother who was a cop at the time). But once in awhile there would be one guy here or there who would take advantage of my offer, and they loved shooting it. I sure would like to buy another one, but the sad thing is, that I was actually running out of places to shoot it in the liberal state I happen to reside in. Many range owners told me that "it makes too much noise. You can shoot it here if you get a silencer for it." Yeah right...like I'm going to shoot a 50BMG caliber rifle using a silencer. Making all the noise that the thing did was half of the fun of shooting it!
I bet man!! I can say that I'm guilty of stopping my own shooting at a range a few times when someone else was shooting a 50cal. U said about every description I think about... u got little pops coming from the pistol range, a couple high powered rifles on the long range, then a 50cal goes off. All gunfire at both ranges stops like WTF was that!!

I'm not sure if its state law or individual range owners rules but where I live it is also hard to find real long ranges for guns like a 50cal but they still allow them on a regular long range. We also have stupid rules at the 2 outdoor ranges I use..."No rapid fire on pistol or long range, 1 second in between shots". Just dumb rules man. I get around that by shooting handguns at the indoor shooting range. They have never had such a rule about rapid fire.

Sounds like you really miss that cannon brother, if u find some good property to shoot at you should treat yourself to a new one.!!

We fire the BMG’s in a indoor range, a real close friend of mine owns the shop and range. He has 50 cal days, allows normal people the opportunity to shoot such a fine piece of machinery. The range is top notch, best of the best.

Holy shit.!! 50cal indoors man.!! That's probably crazy loud., feel the concussion a few feet away when those big cannons going off in a confined space. That's a cool idea too with 50cal day.

When I sold my 50BMG rifle, I was down to using one range where they let me shoot it, which was 95 yards. The 200 yard range where I used to shot it before then was closed down due to a law suit that a neighbor files against them who lived one mile away, and who claimed that he found three 50BMG bullets lodged in his roof. The funny thing is that at the range the shooters were firing into a giant hill which was the back stop. So the only way that a 50cal bullet would've reached the guy's house would be if some knuckle head pointed his rifle up into the sky at a 45 degree angle and pulled the trigger. And there's a lot of liberals in my home state, and I think that guy with the roof is one of them.

Hmmm....I've never heard of that before. He must have spent big bucks on some very special bullet catchers for them to handle 50BMG caliber rounds without being destroyed. Otherwise the rounds would be going through the wall.

When he built the store and range, the city made him install a certified back stop. The back stop is ground up truck tire then 2 plates of 1” steel then a sand wall followed by wall of concrete. Walls and ceiling are baffle plates the whole length of range with block sand wall then concrete wall.

We did once find a 50 projectile The was in perfect condition. You could have resized it and reloaded it. Instead it went in my smelting pot.

I wish this was located in my home state, but I'm pretty sure that it isn't, because I would'e heard about it before. Nobody can even open up a drag strip in my state, let alone an indoor rifle range that can handle 50BMG rifle shots. In some ways, we're worse than CA when it comes to some of this stuff.
