I know those who have (only a couple) and have recovered no problem, which tells me they may not really need TRT after-all.
For those with 'little to no test' at all, not a good idea...

It would be nice to take a break from sticking myself every couple of days for a month or so but not producing test at all I will never get that luxury.

What he is saying makes sense, if you can let your body recover and produce its own again why wouldnt you.

I do. I use PCT support. I take 3-4 weeks off periodically and a longer period every couple years. Brologic-ers always scold me. You know the guys who say emphatically "EQ is useless at less than a gram a week" and so on. About 2 years ago I took 2 months off with Clomid and hCG. My levels went up to mid 400s with 500 iu hCG and 50 mg/d Clomid. I tracked every 2-3 weeks with blood work watching my test go down to about 100 ng/dL and then up to about 460 ng/dL over 6 weeks.

It’s testosterone replacement therapy! I don’t understand why someone would stop or take a break. What are people trying to accomplish by doing this?

To each his own...I'm not Jay Cutler so I'll do what's best for me. BTW, I respect him immensely.

It’s the outdated idea of cleaning out your androgen receptors.

I would really like to be able to let my body reset in a way. I see it like a cleanse in a way. Maybe my thinking is skewed or wrong just how i see it.

I’m sure you thought this made sense. But if you’re on Clomid and HCG.. you’re not off. Taking a break for your body to recover you’re off the drugs and let your body recover. Getting off in this case is pointless. You would have been better off staying on maybe?

Is your sensitivity increased after taking a few months off? Like when you get back on are the gains amazing? Also is there an actual range for test? The numbers by some are considered low, mid range or high by others all vary. What’s a general number that one should be at? What’s an alarmingly low number? What’s considered too high?

All I can add to this convo is that about 3 years ago I just got sick and tired of pinning and took a couple months off. That couple of months turned into a year… I FELT LIKE ABSOLUTE SHIT doing this!

Then went back on and felt like a god again. Never again, lol.

Yeah I have done this many many times. Once the Clomid is removed I test 2-3 months later and my test is in the 500-600 ng range. I am "resensitized" after 8 weeks or more. At this point in my 60s I do this little break for many reasons. Exercising the HPTA is not a waste of time. My systen shows that it can still work from a dead stop, which means that I am preserving function. IT also allows my steroid metabolism pathways (i.e glucuronide, sulfation etc that leads to excretion) to down regulate. Also my hematocrit returns to normal without intervention like blood donation, which can leave one iron deficient over time. It's intersting that you declare my protocol useless by fiat.

Never said useless. Just seemed counter intuitive. It’s like the substitute dope the gov gives recovering dope addicts.

You get off, but have to use other drugs while you’re off, that seem to odd to me. But I’m a total noob. So there’s that. I hope I didn’t offend you.

I am definitely no Jay Cutler but I remember taking a 2 months break from my entire TRT protocol and became a cranky irritable bastard.

I’ve done it… each time I do I regret it. But it’s a feeling I get every couple of years and I try a quick pct and eventually add in some hcg. The last time I stopped TRT I did it for a year… felt absolutely horrible and I’m surprised I went a whole year. In hindsight I’m glad I’ve done that and given my body a break from the additional muscle and stress of this lifestyle. Who knows it could be the difference?

I don’t mean coming completely off for a prolonged period. Just a few weeks until the drugs clear then right back on to trt so you’re not prolonging the blast little by little so you can get healthy again.

Yup I got what you were saying. I think for me I wanted to be off for a while… I never planned for that duration but even though I disliked it i think it helped me… anecdotally of course.

But I won’t go off-line like that for that long again.

I’ve done it before too mine was accident though. I’d get tired of injecting and skip a shot then another and before I realized it 10 weeks would pass.

Ya man sometimes I think the body is just looking for a break.. i would also do what you described and I’m not sure if it was laziness on my part or if it was something else.

So I guess I actually believe Jay with what he’s saying. Do I believe he actually did that in the years he was running/chasing Ronnie?? Not for a second. They were 24/7 … 365 for years and years and years. So I can’t blame him for coming out and suggesting this especially with all the deaths in the sport recently and in the past. It’s good to see a legend like Jay suggesting less anabolics in an era of social media and an era of chasing “instant results“.

I understand what folks are saying but if one truly needs trt to maintain healthy levels… mine for example drops to high 100’s and there is absolutely nothing healthy about it. My body isn’t taking advantage of such a “break”. I believe this would cause me more harm than benefit.

If it was a blast like say 500mg of test I’d just go right to trt but if it’s something like 750-1000mg+ of test and other compounds then that’s when I’d suggest to stay off a couple weeks past the last injection so you can let hemocrit and other things get back to healthier levels.
If you just went to trt dose the next week after the end of a blast your levels are gonna stay elevated for a little while.

I'm about to come off completely and give my receptors a break as well. I'll probably last 8 weeks but it's nice to just drop everything and feel normal again. I will run hgh 2iu still and a shit ton of seems and test boosters.

Not sure if anyone does this but i ALWAYS tapered off from a blast, to a TRT cruise to a microdose and completly off. From a cruise to a micro dose i go from 200-300mg (depends on T levels) I taper down to like 100mg of test down to 50 then 0 and i have no issue with anything. As far as T levels when im tapered off from a TRT cruise dose its still in the high 700 range and i give myself a 2-3 month break without anything before i blast again.

Been doing that for 3 years now without any hormonal rollercoaster. Also my estrogen doesnt flare up it stays stable throughout

When I first started I asked around about tapering off. Everyone said no way, have to do pct.

It just seemed logical that as you lower the extraneous synthetic testosterone, that your body would slowly adjust as well.

It’s a feedback loop.

Body detects less it reacts.

Idk.

Everyone is sold on the system sorta being asleep and needs a jump start to produce again.

Glad this works for you.

So just so I understand, no pct?

If that’s the case, how well do you hold up in the bedroom and gym.

No way totally disagree. Being in trt for over a decade I tried it once years ago. I never felt so horrible. My test level dropped to low 100’s. Once you are on legit get there is no going back. At least not for me

How high was your TRT dose? if its big of a jump its kind if like cold turkey. In small doses and taking your time to go lower u wont notice much difference in moods.

when i first started TRT with a doc i would completly taper off and when i did bloods the doctor doesnt even notice a thing. I didnt PCT. even from a blast with 600-700 test E 400 tren 400 mast to cruise and taking my time to taper. Works for me and even when im off my test is still up in the 600-700 range.

If you do not produce your own testosterone, you definitely “SHOULD NOT” do that unless under physician care . I don’t have low T , I have no T (I have missed weeks before and it was not even funny) . I am sure he is referring to men who are deficient and not complete hypogonadism. My main reason for switching to Aveed, like (Reandron/Nebido) . Only 6 injections per year .
