Anabolic :
relating to or promoting anabolism.
(1)anabolism and catabolism as classifications of metabolism.
(2)Anabolism (from Greek: ανά "upward" and βάλλειν "to throw") is the set of metabolic pathways that construct molecules from smaller units.
(3) Cellular respiration is the set of the metabolic reactions and processes that take place in the cells of organisms to convert biochemical energy from nutrients into adenosine triphosphate(ATP), and then release waste products.
(4) Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is a nucleoside triphosphate used in cells as a coenzyme.
(5) A nucleoside triphosphate (NTP) is a molecule containing a nucleoside bound to three phosphates.
(6) coenzyme:
a non-protein compound that is necessary for the functioning of an enzyme.
(7) enzyme:
a substance produced by a living organism which acts as a catalyst to bring about a specific biochemical reaction.
(8) catalyst :
a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change.

Anabolic Steroids:
In simple terms, anabolic steroids are synthetic analogs of testosterone.
a person or thing seen as comparable to another.

(1) Testosterone is a "male hormone" that is nonetheless found in both males and females, although the amount of testosterone in the female body tends to be only about 1/100th of that found in the male.
(2) For purposes of discussion, hormones like this have two different effects on the body: an androgenic effect, which influences sexual characteristics; and an anabolic one, which affects such things as muscle mass and strength.
(3) Anabolic steroids in general have been engineered so as to differ from testosterone by increasing the anabolic effect of the drugs while diminishing the androgenic aspect.
(4) Chemists have devised specific anabolic steroids with slightly different molecular structures so that each has more or less effect on such things as mass, strength, and endurance and to have higher or lower androgenic properties.
(5) Anabolic steroids are also anti-inflammatories and have a positive effect on rehabilitation of injuries. Actually, these drugs are very closely related to cortisone, and have many of the same effects, both positive and negative.
What Anabolic Steroids Do?
Among Other Things They:

  1. Increase the body's ability to utilize protein, allowing an athlete to train with greater intensity without going into negative nitrogen balance (losing muscle mass);
Intensity=Strength, power

  1. Increase the ability to build muscle mass;
  2. Increase the ability to build strength;
  3. Increase the ability to build endurance (tolerance);
  4. Act as an anti-inflammatory, both helping to protect the body from injury and speeding up recovery after injury has occurred.
anti-inflammatory=preventing from inflammation
inflammation= A localized protective reaction of tissue to irritation, injury, or infection, characterized by pain, redness, swelling, and sometimes loss of function.
(6) However, taking these drugs does not automatically produce the effects listed above. Far from it. None of these "athletic benefits" is achieved without a regimen of hard, consistent training, and even then the effects achieved may not be all that dramatic.
(7) Contrary to public opinion, you can't get bigger or stronger to any degree simply by taking a drug. Instead, what seems to be the case is that anabolic steroids allow athletes to train harder, longer and more often without becoming overtrained, and therefore allow them to derive benefit from this type of more intense workout regimen.
