Get Shredded!
Ever since I started lifting weights about 3-5 days a week I stay hungry. I started losing weight when I hit 221. That's at 5ft 7. I got down to 186 and started training at like 190. I've seen a lot of gains but I have been struggling with controlling my appetite. I weigh 197 after 1 1/2 months of lifting and I can't stop eating lol. Not fast food or anything terrible, but it's worrying me. I lifted weights from 16-23 and was pretty steady with it. So my gains have literally been coming non stop. Im 36 now and I guess the whole "muscle memory" thing is real but is it normal to have a crazy ass appetite? I wish be starting test soon and I have read that really makes you hungry. I just am scared of getting fat. Maybe this is normal but being a easy weight gainer I worry about gaining fat and not muscle.

I have the same issues and my appetite changes depending on how I feel. Most of the times It's pretty out of control. I really haven't found anything to tame the beast except pure drive to look a certain way. I also do cardio several days a week so when I slip in my diet and I do it dosent mess up how I want to look.

Metformin is an oral pill that is used as an appetite suppressant off label by many doctors. You could try this and see if it helps. Some of the sponsors carry it here I believe.

The key is high volume low calorie meals example 210 grams 99/1 ground turkey burger 200 grams russet fried potatoes 300 grams steamed broccoli 457 calories 62 grams of protein and an absolute gut buster

yohimbine curbs appetite for me.

Intermittent fasting might help. I have a hard time not eating once I have started for the day but if I don't eat in the morn I can go for quite a while.

popcorn, rice cakes, beef jerky are good snacks for me.

breyers low carb chocolate ice cream bars are like 60 calories and can curb the sweets hunger
protein mug cakes are good too. lots of recipes for that out there.

I have used greg douchet cook book in the past and high volume low calorie foods are the whole premise. you might want to check it out. He put a lot of them on you tube also. The book is a great way to get started. he list tons of substitutions and what not for lower calorie meals. I will say that I did expect more recipes than I got but dont regret the purchase.

Track what you eat to a T. Then you can pick and choose what you can and can’t eat. I ate 2 glazed donuts yesterday and a slice pizza a long with all my other food and woke up looking leaner in the mirror. It all fit my macros. If I’m still hungry and fats are maxed out then I’ll go for the rice cakes (example) pretty much all carbs 0 fat. Or non fat yogurt, egg whites… you get the drift.

Whenever you’re hungry eat protein. You won’t get fat off protein. Some will say calories are calories and I’m wrong but from personal experience chicken breasts and egg whites will just kick up your metabolism by having them throughout the day.

I feel the same way as far as if I start eating I stay hungry. I have been eating the majority of my foor before 5pm. Im up working all day (mechanic) than usually lift after work. Somedays before. I've really been trying to not eat after about 6pm. Just been hungry af lately lol

As a guy that was a fat kid growing up. I find hunger and appetite to be 2 different things. I look at food and ask myself i am willing to deal with the results of the food in front of me. If it will help me gain the way i want then great if not then i have to accept that as well if i eat it.
