I'm happy my son came back from two tours in Afghanistan unharmed..and my kids are doing well..
I'm happy everyday I wake, even though I have to fight everyday.
It's a state of Mind..
Yes, I get down, sometimes hard..
But, even with terminal C..
I'm mostly happy..

Yes and a lot comes from your outlook either being negative or positive.
On that Brother..
We totally agree..!!
It's your perspective 100%..
I know I have mountains after mountains to climb to be free of my two C's...
But, you can't look at it like that..
You only look at the task of Today..Tomorrow is a thousand days away..
I owe you a great thanks for keeping this Forum going, because it's kept me going. !!

I do not think having a faith is foolish if that helps you in life, however I have a problem with religious people that don't understand having faith is just a belief, not factual in any way, shape, or form.
If you come to me for a week ..I'll do things and tell u what I see and you'll follow me and be baffled how things worked because signs I saw u didn't . You aren't attuned enough to understand the signs. People play them off as oh it'd eye problems it's everything but God, no it is God

Right, I am not an atheist cause I cannot prove there is no god, just like nobody can prove there is a god (sorry the book proves nothing), and we call that being agnostic.
It's really a sequence of signs, feelings, energy and strange coincidence that lead me to believe in something greater. Don't get me wrong, I don't have Christian beliefs, or religious at all. But it has manifested to me that there are indeed spiritual forces at work in the world and the experience is very different for each individual.

More than 2000 years ago Aristotle reflected on the issue of happiness and prosperity.

Most people talk without knowing anything, especially about existential issues as liberty and happiness. So do supposed experts in psychology and self-help shit.

The path is what makes life valuable, valuable in the sense that you get new experiences, whether you win or not, nothing happens either, it is not really what is relevant because what is important is the adventure, it is the path, how you achieve things , and that path enriches you, not in the sense that it makes you a better person, it enriches you in the sense that you gain more experience of the world and the experience of the world within Japanese philosophy is what brings you closer to the wise and the wise is the one who understands the world as its and avoids suffering as much as possible. This perspective is very similar to stoicism.

Get Shredded!
Going to a gym daily gives most of us enjoyment, purpose and satisfaction otherwise we would not go.

That is attachment, from Buddha's point of view, it is the root of suffering, lol, if you follow Buddhism to the letter and in its deepest truth, you begin to fall out of love with life and the world and you become indifferent to all.

Now you can understand why many people believe in God even if you find it foolish.

Honestly I envy people with children. Nothing greater than a child giving you reason to live. I don't understand people who are shitty parents to their own offspring.

Nothing seems more brutal and unfair to me than having children so that you can give meaning to your life, since you are using them as a means for your own well-being.

One should be strong and independent enough to give meaning to one's life without needing other humans, gods, etc...

See another issue I have is free will vs. determinism, if you're a Christian you believe in determinism.
I believe every choice you make in life is yours and it can and will change your direction.

Well, determinism is not a religious concept, but a philosophical one.

Let's say that many things in your life are determined, such as your genes, your parents, the country and the culture in which you are forced to exist.... And these are determining factors that will dominate your life.

So, yes, you can have some range of freedom of action, but so do animals (Its not exclusive to humans, ), but in the grand scheme of things, you are limited by natural, biological, social, cultural, legal laws....

There is a scientist who talks about the illusion of free choice at the level of neuroscience, Robert Sapolsky.

I disagree with your first paragraph however I slightly agree with the first part of your second paragraph.

But I think we’ve been down this path before…. No point in beating a dead horse.

Bringing life into the world seems selfish to those who do not value human life through the lens of faith. But, once you experience it, you’ll see that it is the opposite. In fact, not bringing life into the world which is literally why you have reproductive organs and sex feels good is indeed selfish.

I know my kids like (sometimes love) being alive.

Determinism and free will exist at the same time. You make the choice, God see all.

Big true.

Free Will...
Something I totally believe in..!!
It's is an interesting concept..
Being exposed to several Religious growing up and then Eastern Cultures in MA's..
My personal beliefs are all over the place..
Main thing, I'm not judgemental..!!

I truly believe...
Each person has the Right to Believe in "Whatever they Want".
And, no one should try and cram "Their" beliefs down anyone's throat..

Happiness..well that's from one's perspective..
Like what Fletcher said, moments that are constantly fleeting..
Life is chalked full of Up's and Down's...otherwise life would be Boring..

This Concept for example..
Say you knew the exact time, date and place, you were to Die..
Look how that would change your life..!!
The idea is, most people would prefer "not to know"...

I've witnessed so many people that have gone through unbelievable tragedies in their life...That brush off and move on..!!
While others, wallow in the memories and continue to suffer..!!
Hell..We've all seen those two types of people..
Boils down to their perspective..!!

Are you Living...??
OR
Are you Dying..??
We are Both..!!
