I don't have to wear a suit every day, but sometimes I do. For suits, yes, I get mine completely custom made. I live in a small town, far, far away from people who know what the word "tailor" means. I usually get mine made from this site: Vintage British Style Suits | Custom Tailored丨BDtailormade

I measure myself and they custom make the suit.

The bigger issue I have is with shirts. I can't even find a polo shirt that looks good and it seems a little odd to try and tailor those. I've got the issue where if I buy one large enough to fit my shoulders, it's an XXL and is a tent around my middle. If I buy a more reasonable size, my arms are stretching the sleeves. It's also a problem with dress shirts, and I haven't found a good source for those yet. I don't want to iron or dry clean my shirts because I'm a cheap-ass, and that's the biggest problem: I can find shirts I don't have to iron or dry clean, but they aren't custom...

Where do you guys shop for regular clothing? Seems I have to shop solely online and if I want to look good - I gotta buy "athletic fit" clothing. Trying to expand my wardrobe a bit since I like looking good in everything I wear.

Men's Wearhouse has always come thru for me. I had a couple suits made when I was in Singapore but they don't fit me anymore unless I got stranded on an island for a few months with just coconuts and crickets. 🤣

Check out stateandliberty.com for dress shirts, they fit like custom (on me), look good and are stretchy and if you hang them to dry you don’t need to iron. Their suits are nice also but they are already pretty expensive and I have to tailor them to fit correctly unfortunately.

Get Shredded!
stateandliberty.com

Awesome, thank you! I like that it's a stretchy material, so it might work. The sizes aren't quite to fit for me, but they look closer: often I look at those sizing charts and end up being in 6 different columns. In theirs, looks like I'm just spread over 2-3, so I'm going to order one today!

I have ZERO sense of fashion so as bad as this sounds my old lady dresses me. I haven’t shopped for my own clothes for years and years. She was a model so fashion is her lane for sure.

I’m 6’1, 235-240, 18’ neck, 32’ waist and an XL dress shirt fits me, it’s tight/snug but it’s stretchy so it looks good and you won’t feel restricted or (like I done in the past) rip it.

When I was out trying on dress shirts the other day I found I needed 2x shirts or 18-18 1/2. The problem is if the chest, neck and shoulders fit, the arm length is 34” or greater and the tail goes to my knees. It’s going to be custom or tailored off the rack for me.
Fortunately, Jos. Bank has my size of slacks, 52x28.

For you guys that knows how to dress and want to look good in a fitted suit, where do you shop? Do you tailor everything?

I’m 6’1 235-240lb, fairly lean, with 18” neck and 32” waist… so yeah, not the easiest to find clothes that fit…

@maxmuscle1 might know?
18” neck?!

State and liberty brother. I am pretty similar size to you. I’m 6’1” 240-245lbs 48” chest, 34” waist, and 18.5” neck, and I fit most of their XXL shirts. Their pants are quite tight though lol. It’s all athletic fit for athletes and bodybuilders.

Other than that, I pretty much just embrace baggy clothing or get my shit tailored.

Buying clothes is usually a nightmare for me. Especially nice higher end type. Nothing fits right. Most seem to be slim cut bullshit made for people who aren't me. With a 19.5 neck wide shoulder and a longer torso it's a bitch. I've always wanted a nice suit to look like a mob hit man lol. I'm going to look into the site listed above.

For suit, I go to Men's Wearhouse, but go to a different tailor and not their in-house one. They sometimes have good discounts/deals.

I have never worn a suit. Never really had a reason. I've worked in a warehouse most of my life and jeans and t-shirts is all i need.

Not to a wedding, funeral, job interview, court?

No!
To my parents funeral I wore a polo shirt and jeans. To job interviews I ware the same. I work in a warehouse all day either on a forklift, backing up trucks into the docs. Whatever needed. I know it's odd. But I've never been one to like dressing up as bodybuilder. Regardless of the situation.
