Get Shredded!
Off topic but didn't know where to post. 32 years old and for over a year now have had burning pain in my right ribcage along with a change in bowel habits.

Used to go the bathroom like 4 times a day now I go like once or twice a day. My stool seems thinner as well and I don't have like good solid stools. I sometimes feel like there is some always stuck as well.

No abdominal pain or blood in my stool as far as I can see. Had ultra sounds, CT scan, upper endoscopy with no findings besides irritation from acid reflux. Dr gave me Omeprazole which eliminates the burning pain.

But still feel like my stool is not how it used to be. Anyone have something similar to this. I'm feeling out it's most likely colon cancer. I'm pushing my Dr for a colonoscopy so hopefully will get one soon. Really hurting my day to day life as I'm always stressed about this.

I bet.. bro all the test you've done would have showed something. Your blood work would be the first indication of cancer.

Blood work is fine. Red blood count is slightly high but I'm on self trt and due for a donation.

It's just you search flat thin stool and everything says colon cancer. And it's weird though that I never used to go like that before though. Hasn't gotten worse over the course of the year though so not sure if that's saying anything

Try Metamucil?

Could be irritable bowel syndrome or Crohn’s disease?

Try nutritional changes?

Could it be related to any oral AAS?

Up the water intake?

Metamucil is the best. One glass per day in the morning and you should be good.

By the way nothing in your post indicated you have colon cancer. Don’t panic so fast

It’s more likely a GI issue the any type of cancer. If your bloodwork is fine ask your doctor for a GI referral since the specialize in intestinal issues. It could just be IBS which can be painful and can be fixed with some diet adjustments.

I like this place, but it would be the last place I'd come for my cancer diagnosis.

If they've done all those other tests, they're probably ok with doing a colonoscopy. Better safe than sorry.

You need to take a deep breath man. It is highly highly unlikely to be colon cancer. Is it possible? Sure. I could have cancer for all i know. I have IBS/IBD and from the sounds of it something autoimmune related is definitely in the realm of possibilities for you as well. That would not be a common spot to be having pain for colon cancer. Trust me, it is very unlikely. 15 + years in healthcare and seeing thousands upon thousands of patients makes me think it is unlikely. I am not a doctor but what you got going on is just not the common presentation for colon cancer.

Is the pain under your rib cage right upper quad, left upper quad, epigastric (middle) etc ?

Who is your family has had colon cancer? Anyone? Bc if no one has then guess what? It is even more unlikely. As i said, not impossible but unlikely.

Pain is right under my right pec but I don't get it when taking Omeprazole. No family has had colon cancer but my mom died of pancreatic. But CT showed nothing

Absolutely nothing will lay your mind to rest unless you go get a colonoscopy. I had the same symptoms with additional blood during occasion. I thought for goddamn sure I was coming back with stage 4 rectal cancer. Turns out everything was cancer free with a couple of hemorrhoids that were causing the blood. Either forget about it and let go, or get your colonoscopy and feel stupid when everything comes back normal.

You prob just got GERD sir. The fact that it goes away when taking Omeprazole tells the whole tail.

You do realize that your colon is NOT under your right pec right? Transverse colon and the hepatic flexure is not up that high. Not only do i see countless imaging, my hepatic flexure spasms all the time due to my autoimmune issues and its lower than that. What you are describing sounds more like GERD or gallbladder related. I am leaning much more towards the GERD, again due to the fact that it goes away when taking that medication.

With that being said I would 100% get a colonoscopy for the peace of mind. I`ve had one done and its not bad at all. The prep sucks bc u shit your guts out but it`s worth it.

I`m not a doctor. I`m just a random dude on a forum, period. But with that being said I would bet my left nut that I am right and that it is not colon cancer. If it was any other cancer the CT imaging should of picked it up. Including but not limited to pancreatic. I`m saying that assuming all your lab work was normal too.

Now, for your sanity, for the love of god please stop reading shit on google and let your doctor(s) do their thing bc that`s what they do and that`s what they went to school for. Manage your own care such as if you want a colonscopy then tell them and get one but when they tell you that your fine then your fine.

I`m happy to help you with anything, anytime with the disclaimer that i am not a doctor but reading that shit on google is going to give you an ulcer.

Thanks man appreciate the response. I do also think I have gerd. The burning pain I'm not really too worried about it's more of my change in bowel habits and stool shape/size. Again blood work has been fine and no blood or pain or anything. Mainly it's the size. Feel like I also have to wipe a million times after I go.

I bet you have something auto immune going on. At the very least I bet you have IBS.

Story time:, short version: I have IBS/IBD. Doctors tried some different meds and nothing helped. I shit my brains out every day and could barley function. I missed out on a lot with my wife and kids bc i had to stay so close to a bathroom. This went on for a while till I got fed up with it and I did an elimination diet where I just kept removing things from my diet until basically i got down to just eating a handful of things and I got better! I started having normal bathroom habits again.

I discovered that i cannot eat any dairy products so no milk, no cheese, no protein power that contains any milk protein, etc. I cant eat red meat so no beef, no pork etc. No grease so nothing deep fried or fried in oil etc. No sweets and only certain types of junk food. So things i can eat that are normally in my diet but may not be atm due to being in a diet phase are: chicken breast, rice, fruit, veggies, wheat breads, english muffins, bagels, granola bars, granola, jiff natural in moderation, almond butter, turkey sausage, ritz crackers, certain brands of whey protein, almond milk etc. So my diet restrictions changed my life and gave me my life back to where now as long as i stick to my diet i have zero issues 99.9% of the time.

I also know that my fat macro has to be at least 60+ grams or i get constipated. If i take it above say 120 then i get diarrhea.

I also HAVE to take pre/pro biotics daily. I also drink kombucha daily. I would highly suggest getting on a good probiotic. Not some generic shit either. Get a good name brand bc it actually matters for probiotics in my experience

So you may want to start cutting stuff out of your diet and see if it helps.

Save your money paying for a colonoscopy. Do Cologuard. You basically poop in a box and mail it to the testing facility. Its fully covered by most insurances. It is proven to be 99% as effective as a colonoscopy and you avoid all the horrors of a colonoscopy. My doctor recommended it to me when I turn 40 and like I said, you literally poop in a container they send you, put it in the box they send you and call UPS to pick it up.

They used to say wait until you are 50 to check for colon cancer but there has been a huge jump in cases for men in their 40s. If Chadwick Boseman (The Black Panther) had been tested when he turned 40, he'd probably be alive today. His widow said he started getting sick shortly after he turned 40 but they didn't think to check his colon.

How long is the turnaround time on the box thing?

They can`t send specific tissue samples off for biopsy if you only send them your poop. With a colonoscopy if anything looks questionable, they send it off for a pathology report.

Just got my white blood count yesterday on my own and it was right in the normal mid range.

You read so many things that say there were no signs though like on bloodwork
You also mentioned your red blood cell count was slightly elevated. I've learned recently the "Low" red blood cell count is a early indicator of colon cancer not elevated. Based on all the questions and responses here you've almost 100% ruled out colon cancer altogether. Be well brother

You may want to get your prostate checked out. I have IBS and GERD - sounds like you may have the same, however flat poop can also be a sign of an enlarged prostate. Have you noticed any change in your urinary frequency or feeling like you need to pee but not much is coming out?

Colon cancer at 32 is very rare. Get a fecal occult blood test.

Also I noticed it takes forever to wipe after bowel movement. Also if I finish and go back later on and wipe again I always find some left.

Feel like I always get poo stains in my underwear as well like Im leaking
