Get Shredded!
How much cardio do you guys do daily? How many hours/minutes.
Depending on goals?
Depending on what type of compounds you're taking?
Interested to know.
Just finished a 8km run. Would like to know how much is good daily or how much is too much.

30 mins each gym session, so 5 days a week. 15 mins before lifting and 15 after doing LISS. Right now doing 6 incline and speed of 2.8.

I always do cardio year around. When I'm bulking 3x week 25-30 min. When cutting 5-6x week 45-1hr
Ughhhh.. I’m gonna try to trim some fat around here but that doesn’t sound very fun.

Depending on my goals 3-5 times per week I do cardio.

However, I like HIIT cardio rather than slow to moderate increase HR over a span of time/miles. I like to go 0 to 100 for 15-20min. It gets it done and makes me more explosive.

Honestly I hate cardio. It's boring as shit. I take that Cardamax @GYMnTONIC sells which is cardine and super cardine mixed together and I'm able to do cardio. Sometimes I add a 25mg Ephedrine Tabb also. I have to do cardio if I don't keep my endurance up ill get lazy and that no good.

2-3 hours of zone 2 per week. Do as much cardio as you want as long as it doesn’t affect your recovery if muscle hypertrophy is your goal.

Total separate angle here.

I cant stand the whole cardio thing. I dont mean the exercise, I mean the label.

1. Cardio vascular exercise literally means working the HEART.
Using specifically cadio-vascular exercise to lose fat is absolutely TERRIBLE for your heart!!! ESPECIALLY if you are overweight!!!!

2. AEROBICS is the exercise most suited for burning calories in an attempt to burn fat.

Its ego and trendy bullshit that made "Cardio" a thing. Guys didnt want to say they were doing aerobics bc thats associated with chicks, so "Cardio" sounds "cooler" (not to me, but society).
Once the aerobics trend became passe, the industry came up with "cardio".

3. The most FAT burning exercise you can do is LIFTING WEIGHTS, which also raises your heart rate at a HEALTHY level.

4. The most effective CALORIE burning excercise is AEROBICS.

While some cardio exercises are also aerobic, and vice versa, there is a big difference between exercises that majority work the body, vs. that majority work the heart.

And... fasted cardio is fuckin stupid, does it work, yeah, are you also fucking yourself up in ways you dont realize? YEAH!

Rant over.

FAST doesnt last, whether its fat loss or muscle gain.

I really enjoy running so I do it. I'm joining jiu jitsu soon and I know it's a different type of strength and cardio I hope to kinda reduce my running to 1 time a week.

I do hiit work outs with sprints and jump rope and that kinda stuff.

Idk how well it all works but I enjoy it and keeps my sanity.

Brother, you look great but are you claiming there's not health benefit to increasing cardiovascular output and work capacity through methods other than lifting weights?

Hey Fletcher, you know me and you agree on a lot of things, and I'm 100 percent with you, I just didn't say anything because I feel like I already project my philosophies of diet and training on everyone.

A few things I'll point out:
All you need to do is simply accelerate your heart rate, that means the thing that accelerates your heart the most IS the most beneficial.
I've talked about a girlfriend/family associate that I workout with often, when we hike I can obliterate them, even though she runs several miles every day and I NEVER do "cardio."
That means doing 225lb Squat for 25 reps is 100x more beneficial for fat loss and heart health than running for an hour.
Cardio work literally breaks down muscle tissue, think about this for a second. You are using excessive energy, on top that your body adapts to what you are doing.
That means if you weigh 250lbs of solid muscle and all the sudden start running several miles several times a week your body will literally break down muscle tissue to adapt to the stimulus you are putting on your body. It is NOT efficient to be a 250lb runner, it IS efficient to be a150lb runner.
So what to do? Accelerate heart rate, and keep the body moving. Lift weights. If you do "cardio" do short bursts of intense workouts.
Like what? Sometimes in the morning I simply get up and 5 minutes of speed jump roping.
If I'm not at work (because I do manual labor) take 10 minute walks after meals to aid digestion and work your heart rate.
The point is to do short bursts of intense work that accelerates heart rate.
But whatever you do, unless you're trying to actually be an endurance athlete, do not do long distance low intensity work, it is completely counterproductive. Yes, you are losing weight, but you are simply losing muscle, NOT fat!

I said my piece.

No he's just saying there are better and healthier ways.
Healthier ways to what? Lose weight? The healthiest way to lose weight is to not eat those calories that will take you out of a deficit. His post was pretty confusing and I'll let him speak for himself.

There's only a certain point you can push with weight training for fat loss in a calorie deficit before its too hard to recover and you need to find other ways to burn calories and still recover.

But as far as health, training "cardio" or aerobics is training a whole different energy system. And imo, you should train them all for best overall health.

Listen, all Im saying is:

If you want to work your heart, do cardio.

You dont need to do cardio to elevate your heart rate.

You dont need to do cardio to lose fat.

Elevating your heart rate does not = fat loss.

Over-working the heart, does damage.

That’s what I thought. You just wanna get your heart rate in that fat burning zone. Correct? For me at my age I think was 124-127 bpm.. I get in that zone resistance training every time and try to stay there. That is if my Apple Watch is correct.

My heart rate stays pretty elevated when I lift. I don't sit around and chit chat or go on my phone. I'm in a zone, time myself, 1.5 minutes in between sets, 1 minute on warm ups.
