I've gotten super lazy about reading it. I'm 160 pages in. I enjoy the simple life aspect they had going before the revolution. The family hierarchy is something that is missed in the USA. Things I've learned so far. People will follow along even though they know things aren't going to get better. The lack of value for people lives by other people is sad but true reality. People will overlook corruption as long as their is a "perceived" safety of the governing body. How reading of situations with people then baiting them along that are of lesser intelligence to get something you want. Example when he convinced the one solider to go back to his village and get the medicine. There he collected the gold and valuables left behind etc. The book is building suspense chapter after chapter. I'm currently at the part where his "mother in law drowned". They buried her in a make shift grave. You can tell all hell is about to break loose and get really ugly.EJD, what did you think of “Cambodian Odyssey”?
