Two things you can't let anyone take from you: your reputation and your balls. That means accepting the pressure of taking responsibility for everything you say and do.”

What a great quote. This book is fantastic.

You guys want to read a book that will likely change your perspective on life? This is a book by Dr. Haing S. Ngor. He is the guy that portrayed Dith Pran in “The Killing Fields” and his actual experiences and losses far exceeded the character he played. This book will give you insight into what happens when the citizens are stripped of guns and a means to defend themselves. In this case, over a million educated professionals were rounded up by children and low lifes and forced into labor and executed.

There is a chapter that warns you not to read it. It is fucking devastating.

I pretty much keep this audio book on repeat in the car.

Art of war has been on my library list for a while, might start that up tomorrow…

Thank you for the reply and your take on the book. I started going back through it this morning. I always viewed myself as a nice guy but after the definition he gives examples of I'm not a nice guy at all. I'm unconcerned about approval of others. I enjoy being alone. With a lone wolf mentality I've adopted at a early age has served me very well in life. Although it's been a detriment as well.
My take on Robert Glovers book through 1 listening is men seek and put forth the effort for approval, attention of others while what they desire goes to the back burner. Thinking that their selfless behavior will in turn come back so they can have things they desire. In turn they become doormats and resentment builds with women or others etc when nothing happens for them. The first 2 chapters were eye opening about the lack of father's raising boys into men. With that job pushed onto women I can see why the lack of masculine behavior has disappeared since the 1950s on. Boys making their mothers as gods seeking their approval makes complete sense.

I might pick up Ryan's book. It's popped up on audible several times or the last few months.

So I've been debating between your recommendation of Ryan Holiday's The obstacle is the way audiobook and this

I've decided I'm going with your recommendation. Thank you!

I read a ton of novels , research and just everything but as far as Fiction goes ; I’ve read uncountable novels and there are only a few Authors (alive currently) that have a super
Unique style and Neil Gaiman’s : “American Gods” was really great ! He does short stories and Novels. I haven’t seen the show series but , the book is super entertaining (read or audible ).

The only book series that “streaming show” was super dead on was Diana Gabaldon’s “Outlander” . Even the characters looked like what I had imagined years before the show came out on Netflix/Starz-Amazon . (I got laid so much watching that series with my first girlfriend) . Claire is Hot (Irish Actress) and Jamie (Scottish, is a Stud) so it is soo worth it to watch with your spouse ! Trust Max ! If they don’t fall in love with Him, they have something wrong with them

It just dawned on me I'm actually well aware of who Ryan is. I've watched several of his videos but never connected the dots.

Audible is a fantastic resource. Audiobooks are great in the car or anytime. Zig Ziggler had a saying of "automobile university". Using your time driving to educate yourself and learn new things. I do it everyday

I just purchased a used copy off of eBay. I will read it and let you know.
Hopefully it will have as much of a effect on you as it did me and my friends. It is one of many books that changed how I look at the world and my approach to life.
I am not religious by any means but I really enjoyed the writings of Thich Nhat Hahn. Specifically "Living Buddha, Living Christ". The mindfulness part, living in the moment, made me stop living for tomorrow. It points out that most people are just focused on the next thing and never live for today. For example, you can't wait to get out of HS to go to university. Then graduating to get a job, then buying a house, then.....

We never actually enjoy the moments. People filming the beach with their phones rather than sitting there, taking in the moment is a great example for today. Get close to dying a few times and you'll also see what I mean.

I see you like Jocko and David’s books. I’ve read them also. Not sure if you gone through this one yet, but fortitude by Dan Crenshaw is a good one too. Audible is nice.

I have 48 laws of power. I tried reading it but it is a difficult read for me because it’s a bit “dry” and I find myself falling asleep every time I open it up.

I got the book because I heard that it was banned from prisons. Don’t know if that’s true but… it might be better to get an audible version. Maybe it’s just me? I dunno. Just not my style of writing I guess.

I've listened to 48 Laws and part of Art of Seduction. I enjoyed 48 Laws but as Mr King said it can get dry. For the laws it gives examples that historically happened to make the point as a example. I would suggest if read or listen to it do a law a day so you don't get burnt out. Art of Seduction wasn't for me. I couldn't get into it

I’m ordering it now.

Currently reading “Endure” by Cameron Hanes.
I'm currently 160 pages in. Been super lazy about reading it consistently. Definitely a eye opener how other parts of the world operate and have little regard for aspects of life. I'm not talking about the Cameron Hays book but The Cambodian e
