Classic sign of hip arthritis needing a replacement is obviously pain when waking.

And pain in the front of the hip. By the groin.

Both of my hips are arthritic. I also have a collection of acetabular cysts in each, one hip is bone on bone. My PPO Blue Cross insists that I do PT and get corticosteroid injections before surgery. This to me is useless and is a stall. I’m not going to do any of that including arthroscopic surgery either just to postpone the inevitable. I’ve been turned down for hip replacement and I’m 60 years old.
My only recourse is legal.

The pain I have is so bad that I can't stand up or walk for any length of time before the pain becomes unbearable. Delt with lots of pain in the past but this has to be one of the worst

Yup, when I stand I have to use my arms to push me up, this is causing shoulder stress on both and I've had them repaired 7 times. After I stand it takes a good 20-30 seconds before I can take a step due to the pain. I eat 4 Ibuprofen at bed along with 20-30mg THC just to sleep. The left knee is fucking up my mechanics so bad I'm having pain in my knee replacement joint.

Anyone know a good lawyer?

Bro, I see a lot of this… insurance not approving an MRI unless physical therapy is done with anti- inflammatory meds.

IMO? Just go with it. Do the therapy. It won’t help. But satisfy the requirements to get what you need.

You aren’t winning.

It’s frustrating I know. But they want guys like you to give up.

Play the game.

Go to therapy. Get stronger before the surgery. Consider it pre-surgical rehab. You will recover faster.

I truly believe in PT, always have.....post surgical. I tried the PT for my hips and could do almost none of it. They were shocked to see this bulked up guy who couldn't squat without falling over. As for the injections, my surgeon refused to do them because one, they have to be done with imaging to get to the joint(s) and two, they will do nothing for the encapsulated cartilage cysts. The MRI was easy to get (I have a PPO) they did the left and passively saw the right hip was the same. The part that pisses me off is my wife got hers done (both) six weeks apart just for the asking, she had dysplasia. If I had a spare 80k I'd pay for it myself and sue the fuck out of Blue Cross for 4 years of pain and suffering.

I fought arthritis in my hip for years, too afraid to address it because I was sure it would disrupt my entire life balance and the way I like to live it, it got so bad that I had no choice, I had to have a total replacement, wish now I had done it sooner, had to take it easy for 90 days post op, walking and no more than that for the full 90 days, at my 90 day post op appt. I was afraid the Dr would have me on an extended light duty schedule, to my surprise the Dr. Said if it doesn’t hurt do as much as you want, I was doing moderately heavy squat cleans #225 in a few weeks and squat sets, within a few months I was able to do back squats #255 for 20 reps, hasn’t really been an issue except for the no running or jumping, all this after only going to PT 3 times before Covid shut everything down, have been making good progress on my own, the whole process was 100% better and easier than I had expected
