Get Shredded!
I got this ashy hand syndrome I guess from working in the sun. If I don’t put a high quality lotion on my hands I’ll be walking around like Tyrone Biggums.

Every time I get to DB pressing, especially when I get into the 100s my hands will get real sweaty, lotion helps this and sometimes I feel like I lose reps due to the dumbbells wiggling out of my hands a little.

Do y’all use any chalk or something similar?

I always use chalk on heavy bench press. I have a psychological method of doing it and it absolutely works for me. I get a much better grip and much better lifts as result

I even use a tiny bit of chalk on curls sometimes, bc I to get sweaty hands and decades of lifting callouses tear and bleed so this prevents it.

I also have to have my weights lined up, so if I have 225lbs on the plates and the holes in the plates have to match. Also the weights have to be identical. I can't do one round one on one side and one octagon shaped plate on the other side. No way in hell LOL.

I dont bench with a bar anymore.... 2 shoulder surgeries and pec reattachment stopped that!
I sure do miss benching with a bar.
I always use chalk.

I keep it stalked up at the home gym.

What chalk do y’all recommend? I train at a public gym and chalk is not allowed, but I’m not dropping a 100lb dumbbell on my face idgaf what the 150lb dad bod “trainer” says.

I’m leaning towards powdered chalk rather than block, because it’ll be in the gym bag with a bunch of other stuff.

I also saw some “liquid chalk” but can’t seem to find it for sale anymore.

Feel you, I don’t really bench either. My rotators are kinda fucked. Gotta do a lot of rotator warm ups before hitting shoulders and I still get pain when I get heavier.

Can find liquid chalk pretty easy on Amazon. I use it. It works pretty well, or well enough. Doesn't really leave a mess so I imagine your gym shouldn't have too much of a problem with it. If they do, then it's really time to find a new gym.

But to answer the question. I absolutely use chalk on the bench. Anything over 315. It makes me feel more secure and give a better grip on the bar, which gives more confidence.
More confidence in what you're doing = going to do it better.

Never used chalk. My hands do not get sweaty and my palms are lined with callouses from work, I have not seen any need.

I use chalk on heavy bench but it really depends on the bar and my gym has a big selection. Some bars have aggressive knurling others dont. When I get above 100lb dumbbells the handles change and I use chalk.

Love chalk, especially when dead lifting heavy. Not too comfortable with any lifting straps so chalk makes due and helps me pay the heavy iron a visit comfortably. Plus it looks badass so it's fucking awesome.

Uing chalk can be a good solution for improving your grip during weightlifting exercises when you have sweaty hands.
