Middle age guys ... WHAT WORKS ?

What works for us older guys ? I will be 48 next month , I mostly do fluff and puff training , light high reps ... Maybe gettting back to some heavy bar movements to stimulate new hardness ??? Any thoughts ?

What works for me is a combination of heavy lifting on parts of my body that can handle it, legs back arms. Chest and shoulders are different they definitely need high reps. Every time I try and push chest to heavy it bites back.

I am 53 and what works for me is the heaviest weight I can stand for as many reps as I can go, as long as I am not hurting anywhere.

I just turned 50 and I always stay in the 8-12 rep range on everything, once a month or two I will throw in sets with 4-6 reps at heavy weight, and now I do not max at all, no need, leave that shit for the young guys.

Basically that's the way I do it as I do not want any more injuries as had enough of that. Even when on cycle I restrain myself from trying to go overboard. Keeping it conservative works.

Apply overload principle to higher reps. And add some quality HGH to the mix.

Iím doing more dynamic work for mobility and overall core strength. Keep intervals short for cardio fitness and avoid too much mindless cardio.

    40yrs old
I just go heavy on chest arms back and shoulders..
    Light on legs.
The last thing i need is to blow out my knees...
Im a real tough guy from the waist up but
Not a real pussy waist down for the most
Part. I've learned to let the 20 yr olds do
The heavy stuff but i can still keep up with
Them if not better.. I've been in the 405 club for a few years now... My arms are not even that big like these young cat's.. Yet i bang out better the some of them... Btw they juice to so i don't want any excuses about anything...

I just turned 48, I train about as hard as my body will allow, have injuries and illness to work around, Lyme Disease has caused me to lose a lot of upper body strength due to the nerve damage. Stay in the 5-15 rep range mostly, go to failure on most sets, sometimes beyond failure doing partials and negatives. 2-4 excerises per body part, 10-20 total sets, 2 body parts per workout, 1:00hr-1:15hr workouts, each body part trained about once per week.

I found what "works" for me is the cessation of drinking alcohol and avoiding animal proteins.
If I'm going to spend money on juice, a gym membership and the expensive quality food and supplement, I don't want to waste time on shit that doesn't better me.
At 54 I have the lowest cholesterol I ever had in my life. My heart is solid and I LOVE the way I feel.

50+ here , as a powerlifter I life for strength. I compete so I train towards the goal of getting stronger each meet. My training cycles vary but in general I can say I've lowered my volume a bit as I've aged. Lift heavy only 2-3 days a week. Cycle high and low carbs depending on the workout. Higher carbs on heavy lifting days, lower on non-lifting/cardio days. Cardio is done only for the heart not fat loss so it's not crazy.
