    Doxepin aka Sinequan aka Silenor

Anybody have experience using this prescription drug for sleep or depression? It was prescribed for me for sleep. Supposedly keeps you asleep. I was on Ambien but would wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake. Even the On the CR time release one. Any feed back would be appreciated on experience on Docepin.

Don't know about Doxepin but I have the same issue with Ambien. Post an update and let us know how it works.

My wife is on doxepin right now for sleep and migraine prevention.

She's using 3mg daily, works great for her sleep and has also reduced the frequency and severity of the migraines tremendously. Can't speak to the depression part. Its a tricyclic antidepressant so they typically aren't as effective for that until higher doses.

Here's an educational thing for you that we've already been through. The 3 and 6mg tabs are obnoxiously expensive, even generics are $300+ retail and insurance usually won't cover it. The caps, which start at 10mg, are dirt cheap. There's also an oral solution that's stupid cheap. If they prescribed you the low mg tabs and insurance won't cover it, have them rewrite your script for the liquid. You'll thank me later lol. Hundreds in savings monthly.

As always, if your insurance doesn't cover it at all, use GoodRx. Can be a lifesaver. I use it for my 5mg cialis prescription, $13.38 a month at Costco. Cheaper than UGL

I hated Ambien,it would help me sleep but after a couple hours I would wake up and do stuff that I couldnít remember doing the next day

One night I got up drove to Walmart ans bought a few items and came back home. And went back to bed......then when I got up the next morning my girl ask me when did I do to Walmart and I said no I havenít been at all ,but the sales receipt was on the table ans it said 2:30am that literally scared me to death I donít remember driving or anything !!! As you can imagine I threw it away

Iíve used Doxipen many yikes and slept well on it but I had seizure type symptoms while in bed i would jerk and move a lot ,so I had to quit it !! But it at first I slept and tolerated it very well

Holy crap that's a lot for sleep. They usually do 3-6mg.

Are they using it for other issues as well I'm assuming?

Iíve been using Ambien forever not really working anymore. I showed him the Doxepin/Silenor. And thatís what he gave me. Itís working for sure though.

    An update on this prescription.

For me it currently works for sleep. I take about an hour before bed. Then you need at least 8 hours of sleep before work, because you will be drowsy the next day. 2 cups of coffee in morning and Iím good.
