I'm working on a little project to make nandrolone base from nandrolone
decanoate for transdermal application testing. Unfortunatelly i only
have some basic knowledge of chemistry and more on the part of anorganic
chemistry (pyrotechnics). I did some research myself which is mentioned
in the concept approach below. It looks like it is all about polarity and
degree of solubility. Maybe anyone with some better chemisty knowledge
could help me with information or a clue for this project.

The concept:
Dissolve 3 gr nandrolone decanoate in 600ml ethanol. Add to this a solution of
at least 280mg NaOH or 588mg NaHCO3 in ethanol. This should strip off the decanoate
ester leaving nandrolone base + sodium decanoate in ethanol. After this extract with
di-ethylether to obtain the nandrolone base.

Cons/uncertainties: 1) di-ethylether also dissolves in a certain amount in ethanol,
possibly up to 25%. It's possible the ph of the ethanol can cause a variation in the
degree solubility just as with di-ethylether in water. 2) If sodium decanoate has
any solubility in di-ethylether it the approach will contaminate the nandrolone base.
