The single biggest mistake that most beginners make is putting 100% of their effort into the positive (concentric) part of the rep, while paying no attention to the negative (eccentric) segment.

Dude is a beast! I practice negatives. Rarely, but I did them initially to increase my bench press (it worked). All the little tricks of the trade have a place in lifting. Dorians Back was outrageous. I was reading on his reverse grip barbell rows and he really like machines as well.
Dude is a true UK icon.

    I do hella slow negs
    Static holds sometimes
    Drop sets
    Super sets
I hit partial reps on some things after failing full reps (love them on rear delt stuff)
I also practice a weird combination of controlling the weight and moving it three inches, holding it for 5 seconds, moving it 3 inches, holding again for 5 seconds throughout the rep until the rep is finished. This can be performed on the concentric or eccentric movement the exercise. This works wonders on sqaut, bench, and back exercises (I especially love it on wide grip lat pull downs)
I also throw in combinations of 2 or 3 of these into one long set.

All of it works. This is a good thread becuse a lot of guys get into a rut and forget....even me. I definitely did a couple bombers but, most failures have brought me to success in learning the ways. So many techniques, people wonder why a lot of guys play golf; well, it is similar to bodybuilding and improving your game is always the goal!
