Just curious if anyone here is on trt and either doesnt need to donate blood or cant donate blood? If you couldn't donate blood would you still trt?

Why can’t you donate?

If it’s a moral issue for you, due to some underlying STD or whathaveyou then a good option is to ask your physician to prescribe therapeutic blood draws. They just pull it and dump it as opposed to donation. Not uncommon for various conditions dealing with blood, and isn’t a hard ask to any TRT doctor for hematocrit and a RBC management. If you simply had high values on your next batch of labs they would address it.

You could also do self phlebotomy.. just make sure you always have some one monitoring so you don’t end up dead in a pool of your own blood because you passed out.

I recieved a letter saying I had hep b antibodies.
I know I may catch flak for this but I'm not using a doctor and using ugl.

Well then, looks like you need to do self letting... or get yourself on legit TRT with a physician to order phlebotomy. It is an absolute necessity, Left Ventricular Hypertrophy is no joke.

So... find you a nice lab tech or nurse to start fucking and get her to do your draws at home.. or buy some iv kits and tubing and learn how to do it yourself. Just as I said, always, always, always have some one with you.

I am on TRT.
I donate.

If you have questions or need a list hit up Red Bird at redsxript@ctemplar.com

If you need to donate due to high RBC, hematocrit or hemoglobin you can get a prescription for a therapeutic phlebotomy.

I get them all the time.

I guess my question is for whatever reason if you couldn't donate blood would still be on trt?

And the answer seeks to be unanimous that you can get rid of blood.....one way or the other. So isn’t the point moot?

It raises my hematocrit, which has long-term negative impacts on health, so I personally wouldn't be on TRT without donating or having therapeutic draws. Blood work would show you how much it changes your RBCs. Some don't need it, some do. I'm one that does.

I got denied once for a therapeutic phlebotomy at a hospital because of my blood pressure was high. I told them I just took my blood pressure meds before my appointment. I also have anxiety issues especially going to the doctors office. I also told them that my H&H is high which may have to do with it. I asked to talk to someone else they went out of the room and the phlebotomists spoke to a doctor. When the phlebotomists came back she explained to me that the doctor said they could not do it because of my blood pressure and that they are worried that my blood pressure would drop too low lol. I explained to them that them denying me makes no sense. They said that I need to go see my primary care physician to set up a appointment to see a specialist.
Has this ever happened to you guys and do they normally take your blood pressure before doing a therapeutic phlebotomy?

I'm not on bp medication, but I do a therapeutic phlebotomy through my doctor once a month. And I have noticed my bp is always lower after donating (they check it before and after) So what they told you doesn't make a whole lot of sense

The extra set of hands helps, but you don't really need someone monitoring "so you don't end up dead in a pool of your own blood because you passed out." :roflmao: That's just something people say on the internet.

This might be a stupid question... but I’m trying to donate blood and I have two options, donating plasma or going to a Red Cross blood drive for a “power red” donation which only takes some of the platelets, and you have to be a specific blood type to do it.. so what kind of blood donation do y’all make to lower hematocrit,RBC, etc.
