    STATINS

I was a rookie druggist when Mevacor came out in 1987. I remember the pharmacist who owned the store that I filled in at on my day off from the hospital worksite made a comment on Mevacor (Lovastatin) soon hitting the market. I don't know if he had any idea how it would become such a money...

Ahh, yes, your hometown corner drugstore, great memories for sure. Yes, the druggist was often nicknamed 'Doc' in those good old days, now I see where you got it from. Me, I was sickly as a kid, always going to the clinic, then to the drug store afterward, so I was certainly exposed to it. I...

Oh,I am not a physician, my friend. I do not even have the 'doctor of pharmacy' degree that is now customary in college and university programs, that was well after my time. I am simply an old school druggist, RPh . Yes, I plan to contribute to drug related posts here.

Thank you! Yes, it is a legitimate title. I am a graduate of North Dakota State College of Pharmacy. Worked for 30 years as a druggist (the term that I actually prefer.) I keep the license active. I am going to start collecting social security very soon, so may do some part time or temp work...

    Dr prescribed me hydrochlorothiazide?

No, Telmisartan is in a different drug category than the so called ACE inhibitor class of drugs. Like JJB1 stated above, drugs in the angiotensin receptor blocker (-sartan) class are the ideal blood pressure medicine for guys on some gear. I strongly agree with this.

Thanks, fellows. Yes High Cotton, I believe this forum to be a place of high quality information. 01 dragonslayer, referring to this place as 'the show' reminds me right away of the classic song Karn Evil 9 by Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

    Favorite protein powder?

I have used everything from the original Blair's to micellar casein by both Mutant and Vitamin Shoppe. All no longer available. In recent years, I went through a bit of Molk by Origin USA. Currently I have a container of NSP 92% Milk and Egg protein powder in the cupboard. I don't ingest it...

    Dr prescribed me hydrochlorothiazide?

There is a link to increased incidences of lung cancer with lisinopril or other ACE inhibitors. A few years back, a proactive pharmacy on the east coast that tests batches of many drugs for purity, found detectable levels of a cancer causing impurity in many batches of valsartan and losartan...

    Dr prescribed me hydrochlorothiazide?

Many people will get that serious cough as a side effect to drugs in the lisinopril class. If you are in any way experiencing that, then no question of switching to the telmisartan (or losartan.)

    Dr prescribed me hydrochlorothiazide?

The side effect that would be the most worrisome to me is that HCTZ causes photosensitivity, so more sensitive to sunlight, ultraviolet rays. There will be an increased risk of skin cancer. If someone is fair skinned, in the sun frequently, and / or had several episodes of sunburn in the past...

Thanks much Sir, for the heads up. My best friend manages a GNC, and I still don't ever do business with them, haha.
